Leopard print

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

I love a good animal print, and leopard is an all time favorite of mine
I thought it would be fun for this week's post
to style two outfits in leopard print: The first is a vintage dress,
and the second outfit is from the present

Some seasons, leopard prints trend in creative and unusual variations,
but it's the more natural renditions that remain tried and true constants
season after season, and never goes out of style
Leopard print is even considered by some to be so versatile
it's treated as a neutral

The star of my first outfit is an original 1970's vintage flare skirted dress
This dress is in neutral black and tan colors-and is 100% polyester, of course!
It's a lot of leopard, and a rather large print
so I'm wearing it here with a black cropped tie waist cardigan layered over top

I like to imagining how the original owner of this dress might have styled it
She probably belted it at the waist with the black faux suede belt that came with it
For footwear, maybe she wore square toed knee high boots,
or a pair of those great wooden sole platform shoes!
I picture this stylish woman of the 70's
possibly carrying a whip stitched and colorfully embossed leather saddle bag
of the type that are so coveted by collectors today
And maybe rocking some big, chunky gold tone jewelry to accessorize the outfit
What do you think?

I only have the dress, and not many great 70's accessories,
so I interpreted a look with a shiny black patent baguette clutch bag

For jewelry, a gold tone multi link tasseled bracelet and hoop earrings

The dress is short on me so I chose low heel shoes-
Black suede wedge sling backs with buckle detail

Love the cute label!

My next outfit featuring leopard is a bit more of a subdued print
It is a sweet patterned blouse in a soft Rayon fabric with a ruffled peplum
Wearing this leopard print over a black slip dress
The dress is current, but in a 90's style that has been re-popularized recently
There is quite a bit of evidence that fashion is cyclical in this outfit!
The peplum style blouse, also back again,
was a very popular style in the 40's, then again in the 80's

Accessorizing with a maroon embossed clutch bag
to add in bit of color to an otherwise neutral outfit

For jewelry, I chose a gold tone chain link necklace and
a pair of link drop earrings

Taupe cross strap block heels to complete the look

A little leopard 🐆 fun!
This jumpsuit was worn for Halloween, 2019

Autumn treats-pumpkin cupcakes!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Fabulous leopard looks! The jumpsuit is my favourite, it looks amazing on you. The lady who owned the dress in the 70s may have worn platform or wedge shoes. They were all the rage then! I imagine her with Farrah Fawcett hair! Thanks for linking.
