Remix Monday-Where Did All the "Peach Fuzz" Go?

Hello and welcome!
Thanks for stopping by my blog,
I really appreciate you being here!

Today I am remixing pieces from an outfit
I wore on the blog last June, in a post aptly titled
"Pantone's Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz"

Here is that outfit

I thought a spring look for today would be a good way
to revisited this color. Peach Fuzz did not
 fit seamlessly into my wardrobe,
nor was it an overwhelming success
in clothing as last year's Color of the Year choice
It did catch on quite well in interiors, though

Back in 2024, I thought I would try it
in an inexpensive piece,
to see how well I could work it into my outfits
As it turned out, it was not an easy task!
I have worn the top a number of times,
and would say for sure, I got my money's worth
The outfits I created with it didn't come easy though,
as it didn't mix and match all that well
with my existing wardrobe

I wonder how many of you purchased pieces in this color,
and how well they worked out for you
Any Peach Fuzz in your wardrobe today?
I have seen some variations of this color
cross over from last year, but not a lot

Today's outfit

This current outfit is similar to the one
I created last year for the blog,
using the Peach Fuzz, high neck ribbed tank top
that I purchased as a trial
I paired the top both times with a white jacket
that has a pink and coral vertical stripe pattern
Today, I am styling these two pieces
with an inverted pleat white denim skirt,
 and different shoes and accessories

Carrying a wicker and white top handle bag
with a blue and violet floral print scarf tied to the handle
for a little added color

For jewelry, I chose a silver tone
 vintage scallop shell collar necklace,
a vintage aqua double row graduated bead bracelet,
and current aqua enamel flower shaped post earrings

Shiny white patent, fisherman style T-straps
to finish this outfit

I guess I will keep the Peach Fuzz top
in my wardrobe for a while longer,
although I haven't reached for it very often
Nothing has entered my closet
that screams "pull out that outlier peach top"

Here is a little aside,
but still on the topic of Pantone's color choices
I bought a pleated skirt in this year's color,
"Mocha Mousse", and styled an outfit with it
earlier this spring, (Mocha Mousse, April 7th)
I have struggled to work this item into outfits, as well
Fortunately, It's not all about the single color of the year
In case you are not fond of it,
or it doesn't really work well for you,
Pantone picks an array of colors each year
to chose from, and of course
other colors are available, too
We just find an abundance of the chosen ones
for any given year
Also, Pantone is not the only driver of what colors we see
in the retail shops and online marketplaces
There is also the Worth Global Style Network and Coloro
These companies have picked a hue they call Luminous Blue
that looks like a beautiful bright royal-ish shade
for next year-I am all in for this one! πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

Since most of my wardrobe consists of cool colors,
with lots of bright shades, the last two Pantone choices
have been a stretch for me to incorporate
But it's been fun to give it a try,
I like the stretch and to try what's new especially in colors

Anyway, if you are interested, I am continuing to show
what is leaving my closet this spring in this space
Here is an item most of you will probably think
is a very unlikely item to edit because it is a basic piece,
supposedly every woman needs in her closet
(I guess I am atypical πŸ™ƒ)

It is a quintessential classic white
 long sleeve button down shirt
This one is from Vineyard Vines,
with a blue and white gingham check
 button placket and sleeve cuffs
When I purchased it, I thought it was an essential,
and a very sensible buy. I pictured it's possibilities,
but it languished in my closet
The shirt is made from a very substantial cotton fabric,
and the button-down collar is very stiff
I do occasionally wear a button down,
but generally chose a softer fabric
The stiffness, thickness and boxiness of this shirt
just did not work well on my petite body
Someone new is loving it already,
because the day I brought it into the consignment shop
it sold before I even left, so I know it has a happy home!

Me in the shirt in spring 2021,
shortly after I purchased it
Honestly, I have not worn it more than a handful of times since
I know it will get more love in it's new home!

Hope you enjoyed this post and have a wonderful week!

Tan Perforated Leather Jacket

Hello, and thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!

During this last week of May, I am finishing up
putting away my winter clothes and unpacking
the remainder of my spring and summer wardrobe
Do you go through this twice yearly ritual?

It is such a treat to open up a box of clothes,
after not seeing them for six months
I immediately start to think of how
I can style them differently than I did last year
Plus, sometimes there are things
that I bought late in the season,
and didn't even wear last year
I am brewing up fresh ideas
about how I can style them now

In past seasons I have generally worn
this tan perforated leather jacket in the fall
 Today, before packing it up
I decided to give it a try, and style it for a spring look

The jacket zips up the front,
but I don't think I have ever worn it that way
It is tan, with ivory banded trim,
and has a look reminiscent of the classic lady jacket
that has returned to popularity
during the past few years
For this wear, I decided to try an ivory column under the jacket,
pairing it with a ribbed knit top and
classic tailored straight leg ankle crop trousers

The way the scarf is tied,
it looks like a butterfly landed on my shoulder!
πŸ¦‹

I chose my orange vinyl 1960s vintage
mod style handle bag to go with the outfit

Some more light spring-like details are
 an ivory faux pearl hairband,
vintage orange enamel flower earrings with 3-D petals
  and prong set rhinestone centers
(they don't make them like they used to)
Also, a gold tone and orange enamel buckle bracelet

Vintage Vera butterfly neck scarf
of orange, pink, yellow and green
on a white background

Anne Klein shoes generally fit my feet pretty well,
 but I ordered these online,
and they are a little too wide for my feet
I definitely didn't get a good cost per wear on these
But, I did sell them after only wearing them
a few times for a good price, so not a big loss
Light tan block heel horse bit detail loafers

A previous wear of the tan leather jacket
on the blog from fall, 2022

In my continuing story about items leaving my closet,
is this ivory peplum tie waist knit topper
It has been a very useful layer
in my wardrobe for a long time
It is light and airy and has been especially good
to ward off summer over air conditioning!
I have worn it in every imaginable way,
but now I feel I could use a little more structure in a top layer,
so I am ready to pass it on to someone new to love it

This wear is from Easter, 2020

Hope you enjoyed this post
 and have a great weekend!

Memorial Day Holiday

Hello, welcome and thank you for stopping by my blog today!

This upcoming weekend in the United States,
we celebrate the federal holiday, Memorial Day
It is a time to remember US military personnel
who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces
It is also the unofficial first day of summer
In honor of the holiday I dressed
and our country's colors, red white and blue

It is not difficult for me to find a lot to choose from
in these colors, with my love of the energizing color red!
Are you a fan of wearing red?

For this long holiday weekend
I chose a white short sleeve topper over a red knit top,
paired with a flared red skirt
The skirt is a ditsy print of white hearts

Here is the cute print, it is difficult to see in the photo

For a bag, nothing else would do for the holiday
except this navy and white striped clutch

For accessories, I chose a whimsical apple and worm
 wrap bracelet by Betsy Johnson
Her brand's jewelry is so much fun!
Also wearing a gold chain necklace
and my big gold heart stud earrings

Shiny white patent leather
 fisherman style T-strap kitten heels
 to finish this holiday outfit

I'll be back next week with another outfit to share,
and another item from my spring and summer closet purge

Hope everyone has a fantastic celebratory
 week and weekend to follow!

Bold Graphic Prints

Hello, welcome to my blog and thanks for joining me!

Spring is flying by, and
I can hardly believe it is already nearing the middle of May!
Dressing in layers seems the way to go
this month so far, with the weather so in flux

All of the pieces in today's outfit
 were shopped from my closet
I love bold graphics,
so I chose a high contrast navy blue and white
print cardigan. It is a very versatile one,
soft and light and easy to layer
Plus the seashell print reminds me
of summer fun and vacation time!

In this styling, the cardigan looks a bit like a jacket
I am wearing it over a bright pink satin shirt,
with dark wash, straight leg, denim jeans

I find this outfit is a good transitional formula
for times when it can be warm during the day
(Or not, it is quite cool and cloudy today,
and our forecast is threatening rain all week long)
🌧️ πŸŒ‚β˜οΈβ˜”οΈ πŸŒ§οΈ πŸŒ‚β˜οΈβ˜”οΈ
A little dopamine color is definitely in order!

The pop of bright pink is a season-less favorite for me!
How about you, are you a fan of bright pink
or bold prints?

Carrying a classic quilted dove gray bag with chain strap
  that converts to crossbody
This bag deserves more attention than it gets-
must use it more often!

For jewelry I chose silver tone pieces
to coordinate with the hardware and chain strap on the bag
A chunky chain link necklace,
  raindrop shaped earrings,
and a wide, dome cuff bracelet

Wearing my trusty favorite navy blue
embossed sling backs to finish this classic outfit

I have this shoe in black suede, as well
I am waiting for Franco Sarto to re-issue this style
 in some other colors
Recently, I have seen it in white reptile for spring,
but I'm talking about colors, sans white-
I would snap them right up!
They are  comfortable and perfect
for so many of my outfits
that look best with a block heel

Here is another wear of this navy blue and white
 shell print cardigan
This outfit mix is from spring, two years ago, in 2023

In the continuation of sharing my big spring closet clear out, here is another item that I have decided to consign
I have gotten quite a bit of wear
from this bright aqua and black print skirt
It is one that I have worn in all the different ways
that I think it looks best
Although I still love a good graphic print,
this skirt looks a bit costume-y to me
when I put it on, now.
My style has changed a bit
since I bought it over ten years ago!
I think it is time for it to go to a new owner,
maybe as part of a costume,
I can definitely see it used in cos-play

Here is a picture of me wearing it in 2019
The skirt worked for all seasons, except winter,
and this picture was during the summer

As for the rest of the outfit, this style of blouse, with
flutter sleeves has had a resurgence in fashion
 over past few years,
and platform shoes are back
I believe it was around this time
in 2019 that the belt bag came back
 as a fashion item, too
It is still around, but mostly worn crossbody, now

As for the rest of the outfit, this style of blouse,
with flutter sleeves has had a resurgence in fashion
 over past few years,
and platform shoes are back again
I believe it was around this time,
in 2019 that the belt bag came back
 as a fashion item, too
It is still around, but mostly worn crossbody, now
What goes around in fashion comes back around, again!

Hope you all have a great week!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hello, welcome, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Today, in celebration of Mother's Day,
(my mom's birthday is May 5th, Cinco de Mayo!),
I am wearing a dress that is a riot of flowers
If April showers truly brings May flowers, we are in for a treat
My part of the country experienced
a very wet and soggy April,
so I can't wait for all those flowers to appear!

πŸŒΌπŸŒΉπŸŒΈπŸ’πŸŒΊπŸŒ»πŸŒ·

We have had a modest showing of
 tulips and daffodils so far,
so I thought I would add to those in the garden
 by wearing all the blooms!

The dress I chose for today's post
is a modified shirt waist in chiffon,
with a pointed collar and covered buttons down the front
The dress is by Nanette Lepore
Her designs are known for their pretty, feminine touches,
and this dress does not disappoint!
You can't see all of the details very well in these photos,
but the bodice has vertical rows of tiny pin tucks
The floral print is a mix of colors that are flattering to many,
in springtime pastel shades of peach, pink and orange
The only thing I'm not crazy about
on this dress are the sleeves
They are elbow length and super full and puffy,
with lots of gathers on the sleeve caps
Voluminous sleeves have been trending
for several seasons now, in all lengths;
short, elbow, three quarter and long
It is hard to avoid them, but many
are a little overwhelming on me

I do love the swishy full skirt, though...

and the bow tie sash at the waist

I'm carrying a favorite little bag,
a pale pink heart shaped handle bag

For jewelry I chose organic shapes in gold tone
A hinged wrap collar necklace, a curved open bracelet
 and looped earrings
I like these three loop earrings so much,
I have them in silver tone, too

Nude pointed toe tie kitten heels to finish the outfit

Continuing with my feature
of items leaving my closet this season,
  is this colorful knit top
It has quite a bit of pink and orange
in the print, like today's dress

I ordered this top online from Macy's, and when it came,
 the fit was quite off
The "V" neckline is super low,
and the waist tapers very small
I would have returned it, but this was right in the middle
of the time period that Macy's was changing their return policy from 90 days to 30 days, and I just missed the window!
I have worn the top a few times,
but have never really been happy with the fit

This picture is from summer 2022,
shortly after I purchased it
It was not a big purchase,
but every time I saw it in my closet and passed over it,
 I got an unhappy feeling,
so I've decided to move it on

It is still a current and popular style,
and I think someone will snap it right up
 from the consignment shop,
who will enjoy it, and it will be a better fit for

Here's blooming, now-
Tulips!
🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Wishing a very Happy Mother's Day
to all of the mothers and caregivers,
and hope everyone is enjoying spring
 and has a great week!
