The Versatile Crochet Vest Trend

Hello, and thanks so much for stopping by my blog, today!

There seems to be a lot of retro inspiration this fall
I am seeing a continuation of all things Y2K and reminiscent of the 70's
 adapted for this season
I especially like the 70's look crochet vest trend
These vests were big during the spring and summer worn alone,
and I am seeing lots of sleeveless and camisole style vests
in layered looks for the fall season

Here are two outfits with my interpretation of this trend
First, a cropped teal, tan and white striped crochet camisole style vest
layered over a teal midi dress
This dress doesn't get enough love 💕
so I am happy to have found something fun to layer with it to give it more wear
I purchased the dress a number of years ago for a 50's event
and did it up with 50's Dior New Look style, but haven't worn it much since

Such a bow!

Carrying my ivory curved handle bag

For jewelry I chose a two tone butterfly necklace,
in keeping with the 70's and Y2K theme
Also wearing a twisted gold tone bangle
and embossed gold tone stud earrings

Taupe cross strap block heel pumps to complete this decade hopping outfit!

Another outfit with a crochet piece snagged from summer
It is a horizontal zig zag pattern sleeveless vest,
in shades of blue, peach and white
Worn over a white tailored shirt, for fall, with dark wash straight leg denim jeans

I think the vest gives this outfit a retro vibe-
sort of 70's and Missoni-esque

Carrying my peachy-pink heart shaped handle bag

I chose a few basic accessories:
A silver tone multi band cuff bracelet, thick textured hoop earrings
and a blue and white polka dot scarf for my hair

Nude lace up wing tip oxfords to finish this timeless look

Starting to feel the autumn 🍂 🍃 🍁  vibes
although most of the leaves are still green and on the trees

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Season Spanning Florals

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

This week, I'm getting one last wear in for a few of my lighter weight floral dresses
I can hardly believe it will soon be time once more to switch out my closet-
summer passed by so quickly!
Currently I am starting to sort out what to pack away
for the next spring and summer season,
and what pieces can stay out a little longer to span the bridge season
At this time of year, I also note what pieces have not been worn and why
I am not as quick to donate or consign, lately
When I look in my wardrobe, I like what I have better than what I see in the stores

My first dress is a faux wrap midi with a full tiered skirt
It has a pinkish mauve background with a lot of colors in the floral print,
which is good for lots of mixing, matching and layering possibilities
For this nearly fall wear,
I am layering the dress under a denim vest and with a navy blue belt

Accessorizing with a taupe top knot headband,
burnished gold tone arrow collar necklace and hoop earrings

Carrying an off white reptile embossed handle bag
I'm not as crazy about as I thought I'd be what I purchased it,
although I love the shape
 Re-purposing a pink leather neck/hair tie by
attaching it to the loop for the detached cross body strap to dress the bag up a bit

Suede shoe booties with stacked wooden heels to finish to look

Here is another printed dress, this one I wore on the blog in June in a post about florals
It has more autumnal colors, so I thought it would be well suited
for layering an early fall look
Honestly, it's a very pretty dress, but after a couple of tries,
I don't like this color on me any better in the fall than I did in the summer
I think this dress may be one that is headed for the consignment shop!

To accessorize, a taupe leather sash belt and 60's vintage embossed clutch

Gold tone jewelry seems right for this outfit
so I chose an open cuff bracelet, hinged collar necklace
and a pair of 50's atomic clip on earrings I ordered from Etsy
A took a gamble on these earrings and they are a success story-I love them!

Metallic perforated block heel slides to finish the outfit

I wear lots of florals into the fall
Here is a green floral dress from autumn 2018

Flowers for the beginning of fall: Chrysanthemums!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Bridge Season Blues

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog

Blue is one of my favorite colors to wear,
and I have a lot of choices, since there are a lot of blues in my closet!
Shades of this hue are on the top of my go to list for all seasons,
so it seems like a good choice to help navigate
through the tricky summer to fall bridge season

My first outfit is a combination of two fairly season-less pieces
An aqua blue blazer style jacket and a full skirt in the medium blue
shade of the year, periwinkle, or Very Peri

I don't remember ever styling these two blues together in the same outfit-
a lot of blue, for sure!

This ivory bag is good for all seasons too,
but I think the satchel style leans a bit towards fall
I have started packing up my lightest summer things
including my straw and white handbags
but have not yet tackled unpacking for the upcoming fall and winter

You can't really see the pattern on my scarf when it is worn,
so here it is spread out-have you ever seen a more adorable print?
This sweet puppy 🐶 print is vintage, from the 1940's
and incorporates both of the blues in my outfit
As a matter of fact, the scarf is the inspiration for this look

For jewelry, I went full on matchy-matchy with aqua stone stud earrings
and a vintage 1950's silver tone and aqua plastic atomic design bracelet

Tan suede cross strap block heels to finish the look

Denim is the perfect season-less textile,
so for the fall transition I opted for a double denim outfit
Wearing a pale blue light wash western style denim shirt
with mid wash straight leg jeans

Can't get much bluer than this, accept maybe my first outfit!

Carrying a tan drawcord bucket bag
and wearing my favorite 70's vintage butterfly buckle belt

For accessories, I chose a pink paisley print scarf for my hair,
and burnished gold tone jewelry
An arrow collar necklace, two toned wrap bracelet and hoop earrings

Perforated metallic slides to complete this
nod to western wear outfit

Navigated the bridge season in shades of blue last year also,
with a blouse in blue, yellow and ivory
and dark blue wash flare denim trousers

Here is an early fall bouquet 💐 from the garden in transition
I love that the roses add such beautiful color to the garden,
blooming spring through fall

Hope everyone has a good week!

Fall-ify a Summer Outfit with a Jacket Layer

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

The seasons are changing once more *sigh*
Of all the seasonal transitions, I have the most difficulty turning summer over to fall

To make the transition a wee bit easier,
this creme color blazer works great for late summer days
I am layering it over summer pieces to extend their wearability a little longer
The weather at this time can be a little fickle,
and wearing a jacket that can easily be taken off and put back on
during these changeable days is helpful
I have found this blazer to be a good neutral bridge season piece,
and am wearing it in two different looks for this post
The pieces in both of these outfits were worn by themselves earlier this summer

First, the creme blazer worn over a brown, pink and ivory print
two piece blouse and skirt set
I wore this set back in August in a post about paisley prints
Today, I am layering the blazer belted over the set to create a new look
for the transitional season

Carrying a blush and nude scalloped flap bag
Also accessorizing with a wide dusty pink faux suede hair band
I think adding textures also helps signal the seasonal change

For jewelry, I chose a mix of vintage and current pieces
starting with a special pair of 1940's screw back silver tone 3-D bow earrings
 with pink rhinestone centers
Also wearing a current silver tone knot bracelet,
and seldom worn 1940's vintage faux pearl three strand necklace-
I haven't had these out for ages!

For shoes, a very versatile favorite pair of nude ankle tie low heel pumps

For my next outfit, the same jacket worn over a summer midi dress
This dress has a creme background with a red and coral floral print
I wore it back in July in a post about coral tones

Accessorizing with some chunky silver tone jewelry
A vintage double chain link necklace, a wide distressed open cuff bracelet,
and textured dome stud earrings
I start wearing my heftier jewelry when the season starts to change

Carrying my 60's vintage embossed hard case clutch
Also, wearing the same blush pink suede hairband as the first outfit
Hairbands are a great foil for misbehaving hair-
which mine has been doing a lot of, lately!

Trusty season spanning taupe suede cross strap block heels
to finish the outfit

Moving into fall this time last year,
with a creme color pullover sweater over a summer dress

A late summer garden beauty

And the last of the summer squash from the farmer's market-
I will miss it until next year!

Hope everyone has a good week!
