Nineteen Forties Inspired Dress

Hello, thanks for stopping by my blog-
hope you are having a good day!

Today I am wearing a current dress,
that has a retro 1940's inspired look

The dress is by Allegra K
It is a knee length, A-line style, with a wide Peter Pan collar,
and sweet banded short puff sleeves
The print is a petite ditzy floral,
of red flowers on a white background
So many nice details of 40s style!

I decided to try this brand out, since it has so many
classic and cute retro inspired styles
After purchasing a few pieces from the brand
through various retailers on-line,
I don't think I would recommend it very highly, though
Nothing I ordered has been in the least bit
 standardized size-wise,
and you really have to sift though,
there is a lot of polyester-
lesson learned!

Have you ever experimented with
popular on-line clothing brands
only to find out they fall short of your expectations?

I would love to hear about some brands
that exceed expectations!

A Uniqlo store just opened up
in a mall near my house,
and I am hoping to check it out soon,
as the brand is known for it's high quality basics

Anyway, this dress does have such a sweet look

 I thought my red quilted,
heart-shaped bag would be perfect with it

For jewelry I chose a few simple gold tone pieces
  An organic twisted bangle bracelet,
 and flower shaped post earrings

A few more accessories for pops of color-
A red floral hairband and red crinkle fabric necktie

To give the complete outfit the retro vibe I was going for,
I chose my red and white micro striped espadrilles
with red laces
A quintessential summer shoe that has
stood the test of style through many decades!

I guess I am happy enough with the outfit outcome,
once accessorized

Here are soon daisies picked from the garden
they never dissapoint!

Hope your summer is going well,
and you have a lovely week to come!

Summer Citrus Stripes

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Today, I'm feeling the need for a Dopamine boost
It has been very hot and humid,
and I have been wearing a lot of white
during the heat wave, so bright and stripe-y it is!

I am not sure why stripes
suddenly took off like a shot a few seasons ago
They are a classic pattern that never goes out of style,
and is always in the background of every season

Stripes started showing up in a lot of different
color and design ways, and are still going strong
I think it may have started back when the preppy vibe
came in, with the reset and return to basics

Anyway, I love all the stripes, how about you?

There are so many ways to wear them,
 and types to choose from
Bright, bold casual stripes, soft subtle pinstripes,
and everything in between!
Stripes are also a great way to balance your proportions
if you are inclined to do so

I am glad to see more and more individual style reigning,
I think it is such a good turn,
as the fashion cycle has become so fast and frantic!

Anyway, I am wearing a bright and cheerful,
multicolored dress, with various widths of stripes
in some great citrusy summer colors
I was attracted to the unusual undulating design
and color mix of the pattern
Wearing a shiny white bow blouse
with little sheer, fluttery cap sleeves underneath

I guess you could consider this
striped navy blue and white clutch bag
a pattern mix in a way,
a striped pattern, mixed with another striped pattern,
does that count?

Orange is a great summer color,
and the major hue in the scheme of this dress,
so I chose an orange enamel buckle bracelet,
to complement it
Also, wearing white enamel flower shaped
 post earrings for jewelry

Since this outfit has a bright theme,
I chose shiny white patent leather
fisherman style kitten heels for shoes

Below is a blooming cactus flower in a neighbor's yard
These are unusual around here and as you might know,
they only bloom for a couple of days out of the year
But when they bloom, they certainly are spectacular!

Hope you are all having a wonderful summer!

White to Keep Cool!

Hello, and thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

Today, I reached for lightweight and cool,
  white summer separates
I have been choosing white a lot this season,
 especially as the temperature rises
To add interest to this mostly white outfit
I included few of my favorite bright colors

How do you keep your cool
in the summer heat?

Wearing a cropped short sleeve lightweight jacket/topper
with a bright blue sleeveless shell underneath
I paired this with a white button front midi skirt
The skirt is a loose weave and very lightweight-
completely see, through. Fortunately it is lined!

A few bright pops of color really elevate the outfit

For a bag, I chose a bright pink handle bag,
with gold tone hardware and chain strap

More golden tone in my jewelry,
with a twist bangle bracelet and double entwined circle
 clip-on earrings
Oops, where is the bracelet
in the photos above-
forgot to put it on 🙄

To keep everything sparkling white,
I chose these simple block heel ankle strap sandals

Adding a few more bright pops of color,
in a bright pink braided hair band,
 and a rectangular cotton scarf
in a bright multicolor circle print

Some colorful yellow and coral begonias
enjoying looking at the sunshine-from a distance!
They thrive under the cover of a shady porch ⛱️
or in a shaded garden spot

Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely
 sunny-shiny day where you live,
but I hope it's not swelter weather
like it is here!
