Layering with a Vest During Bridge Season

Vests are a fun and versatile layering option,
and I have been playing with styling them throughout the seasons,
since they started trending in 2021

This post features two outfits with knit vests I have been wearing lately

As the weather warms up and the layers become lighter,
a vest is a good option for the current "in between the seasons" time

At this time of year I am wearing pieces of my winter wardrobe for the last time,
before packing them away for the season
These two sweater vests are season spanners though,
so they will remain in my closet for a few more months
They are both possibilities to wear alone,
and to remix with some of my spring pieces when they come out of storage!

All shades of pinks are currently trending,
thanks to Barbiecore and Pantone's picks for this year
I am very happy, because I love the color!

My first outfit features a lightweight cropped sweater vest in pastel pink,
with a vertical baby cable design and a V neckline
For this wear, I am layering it over a black and white beetle bug print blouse
with black straight leg tailored trousers
Honestly, I am a bit baffled 😕 about what type of pants to wear, right now
There are so many shapes and proportions out there-
I feel like the classics are always a safe bet!

I chose simple gold tone jewelry to accessorize
It is striking how different these two pieces are in shades of "gold"
The bracelet is modern and subdued, while the earrings are vintage,
and a very bold yellow gold!

A recent purchase is this cognac brown and snake print handle bag
I wasn't really sure how I would wear it when I bought it last year
in the middle of the summer
I thought it would be nice for fall and winter
but it translates into spring transition season well
It is the perfect size for me, and a favorite shape

When I got it home and started experimenting with it,
it turned out these cognac woven slides are a nice pairing with the bag

Another outfit featuring a season spanning vest
Pantone has come out with quite an array of
 rich and saturated colors lately
Autumn's Tiger Orange  has morphed into Tangelo for spring,
and promises to be a really big fashion color
I don't generally wear much orange
but the cooler, pinkish hue of this vest called out to me
It is a very soft, loose and lofty knit
I wore this vest back in the fall, on my Halloween post styled differently
This time, for a winter to spring look,
I paired it up with an ivory semi sheer bow blouse layered underneath
and with a dark brown flared skirt

This cute owl pendant is silver plated and vintage, from the 70's
Also accessorizing with silver tone star stud earrings

I haven't used this bag in a while,
but the time seems right to pull it out of the closet
The satchel style seems perfect for the outfit
All together, this look has a bit of a Preppy, collegiate vibe
that is making me feel nostalgic for school days!

Teal block heeled loafers with chain links across the instep to finish the look

First daffodils of the season-so glad to see a sign of the coming spring!

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Cozy Sweater Dresses

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Spring is just around the corner, and I can't wait!
While most of us are looking forward to warmer temperatures, the reality is,
we are still in the midst of the coldest weather of the season and have to dress accordingly
Warm and cozy clothing is still called for,
so this week I am featuring two snug and comfortable knit dresses
 that I am currently wearing

For my first outfit for the end of winter
I chose a black and white mock neck sweater knit dress
with a windowpane pattern
Layering a bright royal blue pullover sweater on top

Two layers of knits=toasty warm!

Carrying my 1960's vintage handle bag with the big, bold buckle detail

For jewelry, I chose a mix of modern and vintage pieces
A favorite 1960's gold tone reticulated leaf pendant,
vintage dome shaped earrings
and a modern bracelet with a blue triangular fossil

These wide, shiny black vinyl accessories
give this outfit a 60's vibe, I think

Low wedge heel tassel loafers to complete the outfit

My second outfit this week is a chunky purple rib knit dress,
brightened up with some colorful accessories

Large, cozy scarf 🧣 of a multicolored pixelated print
of turquoise, purple, royal blue, and grey around my neck

Carrying my turquoise quilted bag
It has a gold tone cross body chain strap tucked inside

For jewelry, dyed teal green stone stud earrings
and a two toned gold and rose gold tone wrap bracelet

Tan wooden stacked heel loafers to complete this warm winter outfit
(Oops, photographed them at an angle that the heels are not visible,
they appear to be floating LOL!)

Flashback to February 2017,
when I was wearing a sweater vest over a sweater dress
Don't know why I edited the subtle plaid Ralph Lauren bag out of my wardrobe (regret)
I think my reasoning at the time was that I rarely wore brown
In recent years, I have been holding on to things and storing them
Even if I don't wear them for a season,
the classics come back, and back around again!

Hope you all have a good week!

Valentine's week

Happy Valentine's Week to all 💕
and thanks for stopping by my blog

This week, I'm wearing all the pink, the hearts and the flowers-what a surprise!
I can't help myself, I had to put together at least one outfit with all three
Wearing a periwinkle blue blouse with wee ruffles on the shoulders and around the neck,
and printed in a pink ditsy floral of tiny rosebuds
Worn with a pale pink ruffled asymmetrical wrap skirt

Carrying my two tone pink heart shaped handle bag

For jewelry I chose a wonderful collar necklace
with pale pink leaf shapes that look like hearts all around
This vintage necklace is from the 1950's
Also vintage, but from the 40's, are these silver tone screw back bow shaped earrings
They have pink rhinestone centers
The silver tone love knot hinged bracelet is current

More accessories in pink
A textured knotted hairband and reptile embossed belt
I hope this outfit is not too saccharine sweet for you!
I (probably) wouldn't wear all this pink together again in one outfit on a usual day,
but this week I have two good excuses-It's Valentine's week and Barbiecore is trending!
Oh, plus I love the color pink 💕

Pale lilac tie heels to finish the look

A totally different pink in this outfit, with bows and hearts for details
The last time I wore this bright pink smocked blouse was for my New Year's Eve post
For Valentine's Week, I am styling it with a navy blue flared skirt

Chiffon scarf tied in a bow as a sash belt

For jewelry, I chose a collar necklace of blue enamel bow shapes,
with gold tone heart shaped earrings and a 3-D bow motif bracelet

Carrying my navy blue quilted chain strap bag

Matchy navy block heel sling backs to finish the outfit

Wearing ruffles and red for a previous Valentine's week-circa 2018
This is a super short haircut, not at all like the photo I showed the stylish
I did not return to that shop-fortunately, hair grows back!

There isn't any fashion on my instagram,
but there are lots of flowers
If anyone is interested, it is @4apeacefulplanet

Hope everyone has a sweet week!

February-The Month of love

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Hearts are one of my favorite motifs, 💕💕💕 any time of the year,
but February, seems an especially good time to showcase
some of the many pieces of clothing and accessories
in my wardrobe with heart designs

My first outfit this week features a short sleeve sweater in a giant heart within hearts pattern
I am breaking with tradition a bit with this outfit
as the sweater has an unusual lack of the colors pink and red
that are so prominent around the Valentine's Day holiday!
I think this is a good time to wear the sweater, as the color green is trending now,
and there will be lots of opportunities to wear those lovely
pinks and reds in the weeks to come!
Wearing this 70's vibe knit with ivory straight leg ankle cropped trousers

So retro!

Carrying a vintage hard case reptile embossed purse
I usually use this bag as a clutch, but if I need to be hands free,
it has a versatile convertible metallic cord shoulder or cross body strap
that can be tucked inside

Accessorizing with a wide, distressed studded belt
and silver tone cuff bracelet and hoop earrings

Tying a vintage scarf in my hair
This scarf is an amazing print in peach and green on ivory
of a Victorian couple in a garden scene complete with cupids and young lovers
Perfect for Valentine's Month!
The scarf also depicts the season of spring-
which I am so ready for
(Just have to get through the month of February first!)

Metallic perforated slides to finish the look

My second outfit is a white semi-sheer wrap style blouse,
with long full sleeves and an all-over ditsy print of tiny black flocked hearts
The waist ties on this blouse are extra long and fun to style
For this wear, I have wrapped them around me twice and tied a big bow
They would sweep the floor dramatically like streamers, otherwise
I wear this blouse at other times of the year, as well,
but the heart print is perfect for Valentine's month
Worn with a flippy, flared hem knee length skirt

In keeping with the heart motif and the holiday,
I am carrying my quilted red heart shaped bag

For jewelry, I chose my chunky gold tone "D" initial necklace
and large bow shaped red enamel earrings
The earrings were an unlikely vintage shop find
I have no idea where they started their life,
but I love the bow shape and feel lucky to have stumbled across them
They will be much loved!

Really red pumps with knot detail on the vamp
I ordered these, believing they would be a darker, more subdued shade of red
But ta-da! They are bright, fire engine red, (unlike the photo online)
I still like them, they are a good fit, but not as versatile as I hoped in this stand out shade

Traveling back to February 2019, in a bright pink outfit
I wore this deep pink skirt just a few weeks ago also, on the blog
 in my Barbiecore post

The bag has a sweet heart and dot print

Hope everyone has a lovely week!
