Fall colors and Happy Halowe'en!

I thought I'd share a few outfits inspired by Fall colors, in the spirit of the season and Halloween.
I had to stretch for these, since I don't have many things in my wardrobe in the traditional colors of Autumn, warm earth tones like burnt oranges, rusts, golds and browns.

This is a vintage 70's wrap dress, I've pulled out in the Fall for the past five years.
This time, worn with a white sleeveless shirt underneath, as the V neck is very plunging.
 (Pre haircut-looking a bit shaggy)

Two tone Mary Jane sling backs, and a brown belt with faux Tortoiseshell buckle

Of course, my orange 60's clutch.  Also, an orange enamel bracelet and gold tone necklace

Next, an orange with black button and trim detail skirt with a sheer black blouse with black camisole

A floral print skinny scarf tied in a bow and owl earrings

with a two toned clutch, and block heeled pumps

Lastly, my bug motif blouse, under a basic slip dress that I have had since the last time they were on trend!  Really, it's a great staple.

Worn with black cross strap heels, that vintage orange clutch again, and my spider cuff bracelet with stars on my ears

Some Halloween orange and black in nature

and a few cute decorations around the neighborhood

Love this grand statement!

And of course, Halloween offerings all over the shops!

Happy Halloween!

Thrifting for the change of seasons

It's officially jacket and sweater weather, here in Maryland, anyway!

I found this great red moto jacket at the thrift shop this week,

and this interesting distressed leather and knit sleeve one

This rich, draped, purple jersey dress caught my eye

and a print dress, that by chance, went well with a cardigan
that I also brought into the changing room

There were several nice tops this week
I liked this silk mini print shirt,

and this draped front cobalt and blue plaid

Also, this roll sleeve cobalt top, with the tags still attached
(sometimes it's a challenge to picture these items minus the mass of wrinkles!)

I loved the cutouts on this blouse, but it was too big :(

The cheerful combination of colors on this striped top
makes it a great choice for a maximum of matching possibilities

There were a few interesting sweaters, this week, too
This one fits right in with the current military/bandleader style,

and the little grazing sheep on this one were so cute, but uncharacteristically itchy!

A cozy long sleeveless sweater vest, very popular this season

There was not much to see in the skirt section, this week,
but I liked this pleated corduroy one with pockets

I should have bought this nice quality navy mini bag
What was I thinking leaving it behind?  Oh well, hind sight is 20/20

Also, the store was very busy this week,
with lots of people looking for pieces to put together their Halloween costumes
There was a lot to chose from!

Although Halloween isn't until Monday,
there are parties happening this weekend,
so if you have a costume party to go to, I hope you enjoy the fun and
Happy Halloween!

Olive green

Olive green has been a key fashion color for several years now, through all the seasons.
It is such a versatile color, some consider it to be a neutral.
I used to steer far clear of olive, and anything but the bluest of greens.  But over the past few years, it has been so overwhelmingly popular, I have tried this shade out a few times.

First, in a military style draw cord waist jacket, paired with black skinnies,

and accessorized with a vintage brooch that has sort of a metal, or award vibe (for venturing into previously unchartered color territory?), and a distressed bronze cuff bracelet

Wine colored ankle straps and clutch to finish

Next, another casual outfit
A pale grey, shadow striped pullover with olive zipper trimmed pants,

accessorized with a circle motif cuff and multi textured studded belt

Floral and sequined oxfords, to jazz it up a bit!

Lastly, an olive midi dress with a burgundy top underneath,

a multi colored print scarf and an olive belt
This belt has been a rarely used accessory in my closet for years, slated for the give-away box several times.  At last a reason to wear it!

The same bag and shoes from the first photo and gold tone cuff and earrings to complete the look

Although olive green is not likely to take over my closet,
it's fun to give something I never considered a try!

Unpacking for the change of seasons

It's time to wear me!

This vaguely moto inspired jacket has served me well for two Fall and Winter seasons,
and I am pulling it out, once again.

I've been sifting through the Fall clothes I packed away last year.
Admittedly, it is difficult to stay on task.
We are experiencing very unseasonable temperatures, well into the 80's.

Today, I must regroup and rummage through a box of packed up Summer things,
looking for something I wouldn't bake my brains out in!
Anyway, for Fall, when it comes, I am looking for things I have that are still in style,
and I can put into rotation soon.
I will not be forsaking all colors not Pantone approved, or styles  not currently trending,
to languish in the back of my closet. But at the beginning of a new season,
it's fun to see what I have.  Plus, I'll be less likely to buy new versions of items I already own.

So, here are a few possibilities.

Grey is trending and so are sparkles.
Both in one dress.  Win-win!

Pinstripes are classic, and are being used very creatively this Fall.
This skirt was barely worn last year, but I'm getting some inspiration to get it out of the closet more this year.

Enough with the grey, already.

Red, a favorite color of mine no matter what the season, is a top pick this Fall.
You know I have lots of this color already in my closet.
Time to trot it out!

I don't know why so many Fall and Winter weight dresses are sleeveless.
I guess I'll be layering these.  Come Fall, I want sleeves, please.

Animal prints are big again this season, not that they ever go out of style.
This top should be good.  A magical grey leopard.  With pleats.

I think this dress is going into the give away box, my initial try-on found it a little too clingy.
Probably why I barely wore it last year.

Another animal print.
This one, I'm going to wear.

Green is big, and so is plaid.
I had this jacket out for Spring and never once wore it.
Maybe this is a better season for it?  We'll see.

Bright green.  On trend and very mixable, and layer-able.

An animal of a different sort, this time zebra.
I thrifted this last year, and wore it a few times.  I'll see how I can style it this year.

And lastly-grommets. And lots of them!  I bought this last Spring, but it's pretty thick material,
so I've been saving it for Fall.  Can't wait to wear this.

I hope you are inspired to shop your closet, and see what treasures you find!

Happy Weekend!
