It's February-Love is All Around

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog
I hope everyone is safe a snuggly warm!

Every day of every month is right
for practicing loving kindness, in my opinion
Love is all around especially in the beginning of February
 with Valentine's Day coming up
This week and next week I'm dressing to theme
with all the Valentine motifs and colors!

For my first outfit, I'm wearing a white semi-sheer wrap blouse
sprinkled with a print of little black hearts
This blouse has very long waist ties to play with
For this wear, I wrapped the sash ties around me twice
At other times, I have worn this blouse with the ties wrapped once
making a giant bow and trailing streamers
Wore with black wide leg cropped pants

Red hearts and flowers for jewelry, of course!

Carrying a red square quilted clutch

Black suede tie heels to finish this Valentine's look 💕

Another outfit this week is a red and black houndstooth pattern midi dress
I wore this dress back in December during Christmas week too, accessorized differently
For a Valentine's theme, I'm layering a black with red lip print blouse underneath

Carrying one of my favorite bags
A little hard shell handle style
with a photograph of two playful Basset Hounds

I chose a silver tone pave twist necklace,
a love knot bracelet and hoop earrings for jewelry

Same shoes as the first outfit-
these always seem to look right with short pants or long dresses

Valentine's treats!

Hope everyone enjoys their week
virtual hugs all around!

Layering with a Blazer

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

This week, with the winter weather roaring outside,
I thought I'd feature a few layered looks with a blazer
My first outfit is a dress remixed from a
post I did back in September about fall florals
For January weather I'm layering a navy blue blazer over the dress
for a different look-and warmth!

Carrying a much loved and frequently chosen quilted Nicole Miller handle bag
It's the perfect size for me, and metallic silver turns out to be very versatile!

I picked silver tone jewelry to compliment the bag hardware
A chunky statement necklace with a super shiny
hinged bracelet and square stud earrings

Navy blue block heel sling backs to finish the look

For my next outfit, a dark red blazer with black piping adds interest and warmth
to a solid black top and black and white geometric print pleated midi skirt
Sorry about the color shift, indoor lighting can be challenging
in our house of many windows, especially in winter!

All around pleats-so good for twirling!

Carrying a cute little boldly striped black and white handle bag
It's from WhoWhatWear several years ago

For this outfit I chose bold gold tone jewelry to stick with the bag theme
Arrow motif collar necklace, asymmetrical hinged bracelet
and woven design clip on earrings
For heavier, more substantial earrings, I have good luck with clip on styles-
they don't pull down on my small earlobes 👂

Wide strap Mary Jane pumps to complete this outfit

A blazer outfit from four years ago, January 2018

Hope you all stay cozy, warm and safe
and have a good week!

Shot of color in winter

Hello everyone, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

If there is a month of the year that could really benefit from a shot of color,
it is January! (In the northern hemisphere, anyway)
Post Christmas holidays and smack dab in the middle of winter
January is not the most festive or colorful month,
so wearing all the color seems like a good idea!
So for this post I decided to bring a lot of bright and cheerful hues

My first outfit is a whole lot of blue
I wore this dress on the blog back in November
for a post about the Pantone color Mykonos blue
This time I am styling the blue dress over and blue and white
abstract print semi-sheer blouse
This dress has lots of twirly skirt-my favorite!

Minor amount of silver tone jewelry-
a hammerer collar necklace and flower shaped earrings

Carrying my silver hard case box bag
with 3-D pyramid shapes

Classic black and tan toe cap sling backs
to finish the outfit

Next, a casual look with an eye popping pink pullover sweater
worn with dark wash straight leg denim jeans

I dressed this outfit up a little with a bright multi-color floral print scarf

Keeping the jewelry simple again
with a gold tone open cuff bracelet
and circle drop earrings

Carrying a two tone navy and wine mini bucket bag
with tassel detail and gold tone hardware

Wine scallop trim booties to complete the look

This was from the Christmas holiday season, 2018
with some really, really red!
I think this was the last time I wore those multi gold, bronze and black patent shoes-
they were cute, but so very stiff!

The only color in the garden now-plus it is snowing, again
The Holly berries bloom all winter, in December, January and February
Only a few more months until things start sprouting
I can't wait!

Hope everyone has a warm and cozy week!

Neutral Colors

Thank you for stopping by!

If you visit my blog even once and a while,
you know I don't wear neutral colors often!
So for this post, I thought
I would experiment with a few outfits in (mostly) neutrals
A pallet of beiges and taupes looks fantastic on some people,
and I admire the outfits of other bloggers dressed beautifully
in these neutral color from head to toe
Black and white are the neutrals I chose most often,
but once in a while it's nice to rummage around in my closet
and try to put together an outfit with lesser worn pieces

My first outfit is mostly tans and beiges with a touch of red
Wearing a tan and beige coatigan with a little bit of red in the plaid,
layered over a basic beige top, and tan knee length pencil skirt

Accessorizing with a red roller buckle belt
and vintage 60's tan reptile embossed clutch bag

I chose gold tone jewelry to accessorize this outfit
My "D" initial chain necklace, a slider bangle bracelet
and bar post earrings

Light tan suede low shoe booties to finish the look

The next outfit features a muted olive open jacket
wrapped closed with a black leather sash belt
Worn over a black camisole, and with black denim jeans

Accessorizing with two pieces of vintage 50's copper jewelry
that don't get out of the jewelry box nearly often enough,
and black square drop earrings

Low block heel slides embossed in neutral colors
to complete the look

An unusual (for me) outfit of neutral browns and tans from December, 2017

Natural neutral background with a pop of color
from back in the autumn

Today was a far cry from this fall photo-
we have had gloomy 🌧 rain all day
after two dumps of snow this past week!

Already counting the weeks until spring,
Hope everyone has a good week!

The Color Purple

Hello, and a very Happy New Year to you all!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today

This week I am styling two outfits built around the color purple

I love wearing this deep, rich color
But of course I would, it's two of my favorites mixed together: red and blue!

First, the start off the new year,
a casual look with a navy blue and purple pullover sweater
This sweater is a classic crewneck cut, made special with a whimsical intarsia print
of horses in walking, trotting and galloping poses
Worn with medium wash straight leg denim jeans

To accessorize, I chose a scarf is an opposite print-
it has shades of purple on a navy blue background
The celestial bodies of the sun, moon and stars dance across this print

For a bag, I'm wearing a vintage 70's fringed cross body suede pouch
with a padded shoulder chain strap

A silver tone open multi-ring cuff bracelet
and large hoop earrings for jewelry

Tan suede stacked heel shoe booties to finish
this outfit with a 70's retro vibe

A whole lot of the color purple in this
cozy solid color, flat knit sweater dress

This dress is very basic, but has an unusual wide scoop neckline
that makes it challenging to layer

I filled in the neckline with a favorite lush tone scarf
scattered with a print of magnificent jewels

Carrying a navy blue and berry colored two tone mini bucket bag

I chose gold tone curved jewelry to complement the
hardware on the bag-
an open cuff bracelet and circle stud earrings

Berry shoe booties to complete the look

What was I thinking, deleting this ruffly
purple and violet floral print blouse from my wardrobe?
Now I wish I had it back

I'm even consuming purple food today: a yummy blueberry smoothie

Hope everyone stayed safe and healthy over the holidays
and has a good first week of the year!
