Colors of Autumn

Hello and thanks for visiting my blog!

I am adding a little autumnal spice to two outfits this week
The fall season is a beautiful time of year here in the mid-Atlantic region of the US
The landscape is turning warm, rich, golden tones,
and the weather is cool, but still lovely for the most part
The perfect time to enjoy the outdoors
I love the colors that surround me at this time of year,
but of all the seasonal colors, the shades of autumn are the hardest for me to wear
This week, I am trying some of the colors in harmony with this season,
modified slightly, and grounded in black and white

My first outfit, is on an intensely sunny autumn 🍁 🍂 🍃 day,
glowing from behind me in spite of the light filtering shade and black out curtains!
Wearing a chiffon dress in a riotous red and orange floral print on a black background

Accessorizing with a rusty tan color suede sash belt,
and for jewelry, a vintage brass bracelet, a DIY leaf necklace and little leaf shaped
rhinestone studded post earrings

Carrying a vintage Etienne Aigner bag that I have not used in a long time
I think I will chose it more this fall,
especially since I now have a pair of shoes
that complement it so well in style and color
I love it when that happens-
something new comes into your closet and breaths fresh life into something
that has been there for a while

Cognac braided block heel slides to finish the outfit

My second outfit features a pleated midi skirt with a swirling print of tiny flowers,
as if stirred up by a brisk fall wind!
The colors are autumnal shades of orange, gold, yellow and white on a black field
I chose a fitted black blazer style jacket with faux leather and zipper details
worn over a white ribbed tank

Accessorizing with a 60's vintage neck scarf with a cute repeating geometric pattern
in yellow, orange and olive adds another fall touch
Silver tone ball hinged bracelet and faceted dome stud earrings for jewelry

Carrying a mustard yellow bag with bold silver tone hardware

For shoes, two tone nude and black sling backs with low block heels
I can see why this Chanel style toe cap spectator has been a classic for decades
It's comfortable, walkable and works with so many outfits-CoCo you were a genius!

Autumnal tones in the autumn of 2019
This mustard color is challenging for me
so I wore a scarf around my neck in colors better suited to me

It' is really beginning to look like fall-
a golden carpet of fallen leaves

Hope everyone has a good week!

Halloween Week

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Around Halloween, one fun way to celebrate the holiday
and get into the spirit (pun intended!),
is to create some outfits and dress to fit the Halloween theme
This week, I am remixing some pieces from my closet to fit the seasonal bill

For my first outfit, I am wearing my Hell Bunny dress printed with skulls, bats and red roses
I cannot resist pulling this dress out for a spin around Halloween
every year since I purchased it
The dress has cap sleeves, so I am layering a black open cardigan over it for the weather

I chose a red belt and this dark red quilted bag to carry

To accessorize, a red hair tie and silver oxidized wrap snake bracelet,
with a sixties vintage silver tone chain around my neck

Black pumps with wide curved ankle straps and pointed toes
They look a little witchy with this outfit, don't you think?

October, and halloween week seem the perfect time to wear
all the orange pieces in my closet
When fall comes around, orange is always the color for October
Plus, it is trending this fall and winter season,
and is forecasted to be big for spring and summer of 2023
So lots of orange to be found, if it's a color you like to wear!
My next outfit is a very classic and timeless combination of pieces,
 with a holiday color twist

Styling an orange sleeveless sweater vest with a thick cable design
over a white long sleeve shirt in an Eiffel Tower print
Paired with a black skirt with white pipping and flap pockets

Carrying my black and white gingham check bag
Usually I have packed this one away with my summer things by now,
but I'm glad I kept it out this year
I think it works for fall as well as spring and summer

Wearing simple gold tone jewelry,
a disc pendant and small hoop earrings

Black suede tassel loafers with low block heels
to finish the outfit

Orange and black from halloween week, 2018 🎃

Hope everyone has a fun Halloween 👻
These  vintage wooden cut outs are in a neighbor's yard
They are way too cute to be scary-like Casper the friendly ghost(s)!

Autumn decor-mums, pumpkins and gourds

Have a great week!

Pantone's Lava Falls Red

Hello, and thanks so much for stopping by!

I love Pantone's choice of the color Lava Falls Red for autumn and winter this season

I find red an uplifting and energizing color,
and it is one of my very favorites to wear
The evidence is in my closet,
and the many blog post photos featuring the color in outfit pieces and accessories
So this week's post featuring Lava Falls Red is an obvious choice!

My first dress can be worn year round,
but I generally wear it in the fall and  spring
It is a very versatile shirt dress style in a red and navy windowpane check,
with navy blue collar and cuffs
It is one of numerous Tommy Hilfiger pieces in my closet
The designer's signature color combination is red, white and blue
and his style is classic American, so it is a natural match
Layering a red cardigan over the dress for fall

Accessorizing with a neck scarf in a multi color nautical motif
of red, navy, gold, green and white

Also pictured, simple gold tone jewelry to compliment the outfit
Square stud earrings and a hinged bracelet

Carrying a navy blue quilted chain strap shoulder bag

All matchy-matchy today with
navy blue block heel sling backs to finish the look

The name of the color Lava Falls Red prompted me
to get this dress out to wear
It is an older dress that I don't wear very often, but the print so epitomizes
the name for the current color
It reminds me of lava or flames with the red, orange and hot pink print!
Wearing a sheer black 3/4 sleeve top underneath to seasonal-ize it

Minimal shiny gold tone jewelry:
a chain link collar necklace and earrings
These pieces are not a set, but they go together very well

Lots of shine today with a black patent leather clutch bag
with bold brushed gold hardware

Black d'orsey pumps to finish the look

Red has been a favorite color of mine to wear for years
Here is a red and pink floral dress layered under a red blazer from fall, 2017
Hard to believe this was five years ago!

An autumn bloom: Gorgeous giant red poppy

Hope everyone has a good week!

Fall Geometric Prints

Hello, and thanks for stopping by!

I love wearing geometric and graphic prints
For this post, I am styling two fun print dresses for fall

My first outfit features a dress with a lively colorful print of large, bold irregular shapes
The pattern reminds me a bit of the leaves falling from the trees at this time of year
The colors are yellow, gold, orange and pink on a navy blue background-
it would be one fantastic techni-color tree!
It is a lot of brightness! So for this wear, I chose a navy blue blazer to layer over it
The dress has cute short, puffed sleeves and a high waisted bodice
that give it a bit of a retro 70's vibe
Plus, there are lots of different colors to pull out to accessorize with
Maybe I will re-style it on it's own, in all it's sunshine brightness, in the spring

All vintage accessories today, which is unusual
Most of the time I like to mix it up, old with new,
but today these all seemed so right
The gold tone expansion cuff bracelet is from the 50's,
while the shaggy dog broach and leaf earrings are from the 60's

This cute lemon yellow box handle bag is also from the mod 60's

Finishing the look with navy blue embossed sling back pumps with block heels

Another geometric print dress that is the perfect color combination for fall
This dress is true vintage, from the 70's
It is brown, orange and white, in a classic wrap style
I layered a brown sleeveless sweater vest over it for this wear

A bit of an eye popping post, with all of these prints!

Another little 60's vintage mod style handle bag, in orange vinyl

For jewelry with this outfit I chose a tiger eye cuff,
gold tone "love" dove pendant and small hoop earring

Two tone brown and tan Mary Jane sling backs
to complete this look

An outfit from a previous fall season, with a bright geometric print skirt
This was from autumn 2020

Fun shapes in the fall garden-like a star burst!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Neutrals with a Pop of Color

Hello, and thanks for stoping by my blog!

Head to toe neutrals and full on head to toe bright color
are both trending this fall, at the same time,
so why not mix the two looks?
This week my outfits are predominantly neutral,
but with the addition of a pop of bright color to liven the look up!
Suiting pieces and bold shoulders are also being shown this season,
no doubt because nearly everyone has been dressing very casually,
 and mostly working from home
It looks like the fashion industry is encouraging us to dress up, again

My first outfit features a sharply tailored double breasted blazer in taupe
I paired this jacket with navy blue straight leg trousers

To add a bit of color, I am carrying a bright red convertible clutch bag,

and a favorite 1960s vintage multi color bull's eye scarf in red, blue and mustard

I chose simple, minimal silver tone jewelry for this outfit-
a bold design hinged bracelet and substantial textured hoop earrings

Navy blue patent leather kitten heel sling backs to finish the look

Next, a seldom worn dress by French Connection,
that has been in my closet for a long time
This dress seemed like the perfect season spanner when I bought it
It has a modified boat neck and short puffed sleeves
that you usually see more on spring and summer pieces
The dress is in a lightweight cable knit that seemed ready for fall and winter
This dress is trying to be all things at once!
Anyway, styling it up today for fall, with a hot pink sleeveless ribbed mock neck
layered underneath

Another pop of pink in my bag

A two toned geometric statement necklace to add interest,
with pink irregular shaped stone earrings and a cuff bracelet
I have this simple bracelet in gold and silver tone
and I wear them both a lot
When I find comfortable bracelets that fit my super small wrists-I snap them up!

Black and white plaid bow pumps to finish,
and lean the outfit a little further towards fall

Here is picture of my husband and I in this outfit
So happy that he enjoys dressing up and has fun coordinating our outfits
I have been a little slow to appreciate his love of dressing in matching colors-
but I'm catching on!
His shirt is by Tommy Hilfiger, and is royal blue
with bright pink and white stripes
My husband used to sing in a Barbershop Quartet 💈
and this shirt was part of one of his performance outfits

I hope everyone enjoys their week!
