Black and White with a Splash of Color

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

This week I chose two outfits in black and white,
livened up with a splash of color
If you have been here before, you know I am a big fan of bright color!

My first outfit is separates, a white lightweight 3/4 sleeve pullover sweater
with a tiny tone on tone embroidered polka dot pattern
Paired with a seldom worn unusual wrap skirt in black, white and grey stripes

I made this casual outfit fun with accessories
Wearing a turquoise vintage scarf as an impromptu necklace
and a black and white polka dot headband
For jewelry, a shiny silver tone hinged bracelet
and faceted dome stud earrings

Carrying a turquoise square fold over flap clutch
for another pop of color

White perforated slip on sneakers to complete this fun spring look!

Another black and white outfit with a pop of bright pink this time
White short sleeve twill jacket with safari details
worn with a black and white print pleated midi shirt
I wore this skirt styled differently on the blog back in January
in a post about layering with a blazer

I just noticed I'm wearing polka dots in both of these outfits-
It's such a mood lifting print!
Some pops of pink with a bright pink and white polka dotted scarf
and a fuchsia clutch bag

For jewelry, a chunky gold tone chain link bracelet and chain drop earrings

I have been wearing these black and tan toe cap sling backs
quite a bit in the past few months
The are very comfortable, and are a versatile classic style

An example of black and white with a splash of color from 2018
It is a formula I reach for often!

Turquoise with black and white

Some pops of color in the garden
the tulips are still blooming beautifully! 💐

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Spring Layers

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog today-

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter holiday weekend!

It won't by long before most of us will be wearing our pretty, sleeveless dresses

I have unpacked my spring and summer clothes
and am impatient to start wearing them
But for now, during these changeable spring months,
adding a layer can get a little more wear from our light and breezy summer pieces
These two dresses layer pretty easily, so a cardigan is a good choice

My first outfit is a flutter sleeve dress in a muted aqua floral print
topped with an aqua baby cable cardigan sweater

This sweater is soft and lightweight, with 3/4 sleeves
and is a perfect pastel for spring
Today I am wearing the waist tie sash that came with the dress
as a neck scarf in a big bow around my neck

For jewelry I chose a gold tone asymmetrical bracelet
and open circle earrings

This little bronze metallic bag is caught just right
in the sunlight from the window, and is positively glowing

All season taupe suede cross strap heels
to finish the look

Another outfit with a sleeveless summer dress
This one in a royal, black and white abstract print. I seldom wear it,
as the bold black accents don't seem right when I reach for it in summer
I thought I would try it for spring with a cardi layer on top

The cardigan is an open front cropped style
that has the look of a collarless jacket

Carrying my bright blue channel quilted and star studded clutch

Just a few pieces of silver tone jewelry for this busy print
Double Dolphin hinged bracelet and black square drop earrings

First sandals of the season!
Block heel slide sandals like these are a big trend this spring
I'm  seeing a lot of cute styles online, with both wide and narrow straps
I love this style and took a chance ordering these online
Fit for me can be tricky in this style of shoe, as my feet are narrow
and the straps are usually too wide for me
These are a little loose and floppy-
I am going to have to venture into a brick and mortar shop to get a good fit

Here's an outfit from spring 2018
with a cardigan  buttoned up and tucked into a skirt
Purple is back this season and I still have this sweater,
I will have to get this one out for a re-style

It's a beautiful time of the year
with the tulips 🌷 in bloom!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Easter is Coming

Easter is coming, so Happy Easter to all, 🐣
and thanks for stopping by my blog!

In keeping with the tradition of pastel colors for spring and the Easter season,
my first outfit is in the palest pink
Wearing a matching soft pink skirt and blouse set
with a light tan puffed sleeve blazer style jacket

Carrying a quilted dove gray metallic satchel bag
and wearing a vintage geometric print scarf
in soft pastel pink and neutral colors

Silver bling seems just right to further dress up this outfit
so I choose my rhinestone heart charm link bracelet
and silver hoop earrings

Pale lavender tie heels to finish the look

For a change from the pastels, an outfit of navy blue and white
with a pop of bright pink
Wearing a white lace cropped topper over a navy blue tank style top
with a full circle skirt in navy, black and white
in a giant paisley print

The print is a batik on linen

Carrying a dark pink chain handle bag
with a fancy stylized bow design

Accessorizing with dainty gold tone jewelry
A hinged bow bracelet, rhinestone embellished collar necklace
and hoop earrings

Dark pink reptile embossed slides with more bow detail
I guess you can see I love bows!

Time traveling back to Easter 2017

Enjoy the holiday

Hope everyone has a good week!

A Multitude of Blues for Spring

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog!

I'm not talking about a blue mood here,
but the many shades of the color blue that are trending for spring
There is a shade for everyone in the shops and online now!
Of course, there is Very Peri,
the blue-violet color chosen by Pantone as the color of the year,
and lots of shades of blue and purple, too
Other blue hues shown at the New York Fashion Week spring/summer show
are Spun Sugar, a clear, pale pastel blue, Glacier Lake, a soft medium blue,
Harbour Blue, a shade of teal, and Skydiver, which is in the navy/royal blue family
The popularity of all of these shades of blue and purple seems to point to
a great need to calm our collective spirit

For this post, I chose two outfits in a mix of blue hues
My first outfit is a bright blue soft jacket
The jacket is layered over a multi color cropped lace blouse
of Very Peri, Glacier Blue, black and ivory
Worn with black straight leg ankle crop trousers

Mixed blues

I received this quilted half circle bag with the chunky chain handle
as a gift from my husband for Christmas-so cute!
It matches so nicely with the shoes I'm wearing, too

Mixing a few decades with the blue tones in my accessories today
I chose a vintage 1940's wrap blue bead and faux pearl bracelet
and 1950's gold tone leaf 🍃 motif clip on earrings
Also in the mix is a wired crinkle scarf/hairband
I think I am going to look back on the photos of this time
and the thing that will stand out most is all of the hairbands!
It's a trend that I have really embraced

Two tone black and tan sling back
spectator pumps to finish the look

Another bluesy outfit and another headband!
This outfit features a wild geometric print silk blouse from Michael Kors
The colors area bright blue and white on a navy blue background
This blouse has a flattering wide boat neckline and full elbow length sleeves
Worn with a long, full skirt in what Pantone would currently label Skydiver Blue

Always down for a swishy skirt!

Accessorizing with a wide, distressed metallic silver belt
and what do you know-a hairband!

Silver tone jewelry to complement the belt buckle
A multi band, open cuff bracelet and hoop earrings

Carrying a light tan 70's vintage fringed bag
that seems to fit the boho vibe of the outfit

Taupe cross strap block heels to finish the outfit

I love wearing blue, and their are lots of shades in my closet-
here's a royal blue dress from spring, 2018

Garden blooms in shades of blue and purple

Hope everyone has a good week!
