To the Max(i)!

Hello, welcome and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Today, I have two long dresses to share with you
I rarely wear a maxi length dress unless the event requires it,
but they are so popular now, and in keeping with the always in style boho summer vibe

There are some really cute casual maxi dresses and skirts trending now-
the denim maxi skirt has been a surprise hit this summer
How about you, are you a maxi girl?

Both of my outfits for today's post are quite dressy,
and neither of them spend much time out of the closet!
I have had both of these in my wardrobe for three or four years
and have only worn each of them a few times
I have thought about consigning them,
but as soon as I delete a special occasion piece from my wardrobe,
along comes a need for it,
and I have to scramble to find something appropriate to wear
These tow have made the cut, at least until the end of the summer season

I do love a floral print, and the absolute explosion
of large, exotic multicolor flowers on this first  dress
Of the two, this one is probably the most adaptable
Technically a guess it is considered more of a high-low hem than a true maxi

Carrying a silver washed metallic foldover clutch

Blinging it up with lots of rhinestones for a wedding
A vintage expandable bracelet ringed with three rows of rhinestones,
A collar necklace with a bow shape in rhinestones,
and star shaped stud earrings with rhinestone centers

Nude ankle strap wedge sandals to finish the outfit
Wedges are life savers for outdoor events!

Lots of color in this maxi dress that is a long solid column of coral!
I broke up the column of coral with an aqua scarf
tied as a wide obi style belt at my waist

I was considering lopping the hem off this dress to make it midi or knee length
and more versatile, but that might look weird because of the mid-calf lining

Coral and aqua are such yummy colors together

To enhance to summery vibe,
I chose a necklace with large faux turquoise stones,
a double dolphin🐬 hinged bracelet
and hand crafted silver bird earrings

Carrying my round wicker sea shell embellished handle bag

I chose these tan braided wide strap slides to finish the look

This is the only true floor length maxi dress in my closet,
and I think this is the last time I wore it-in the summer of 2021

Summer blooms-

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Peplum Style blouses

Hello and welcome, thanks for stopping by my blog!

Peplum styles have been having a bit of a fashion comeback
for the past few seasons, as part of the Y2K renaissance
I remember this style had a more recent comeback in the 2010's as well,
in more polished business and business-casual wear
Are you a fan of the peplum?
I have noticed some very dramatic peplum silhouettes recently, a lot in formal wear,
on fancy dresses and gowns, as well as on more casual pieces,
so I think this style will be on the fashion radar for a while
The tops pair very nicely with high waisted pants and skirts, too
The two blouses I am wearing this week are soft and casual, and very easy to wear
Both looks are in predominantly summery shades of blue and white

For my first outfit, I am styling a blouse I wore earlier this season
in a post about another current fashion trend, the square neckline
This time I paired the top with my favorite high waisted white denim jeans

I chose some fun, lighthearted and colorful jewelry to compliment this outfit
A turquoise expansion bracelet, and two special vintage pieces
A silver plated butterfly necklace from the 1970's,
and a pair of 3-D aqua enamel flower shaped earrings with rhinestone centers from the 50's

Carrying a turquoise bag, for another pop of fun summer color!

Wearing a yummy color turquoise silk scarf in my hair

White block heel braided band sandals to finish the outfit

A different outfit in mostly white with blue with touches of coral
The top is a soft ivory color with fluttery cap sleeves
and a drawstring tie waist forming the peplum
Worn with a stylized floral print skirt of turquoise, mint green and white
 with touches of coral

Aqua and mint green are such quintessential summer colors,
so I chose three pieces of jewelry in these shades to complement this look
and the colors in the skirt
A necklace of irregular chunky pieces of faux turquoise,
a pair of aqua flower shaped earrings and silver tone and mint enamel bangle bracelet

This bag doesn't get much use,
so this seemed like the perfect outfit to get it out of the closet
It coordinates so well with the coral in my skirt and hair scarf

A much loved vintage scarf with an exotic bird and flower print
that belonged to my grandmother in my hair

Tan and white gingham check fabric mules to finish the outfit

A sunflower for you!

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and the week!

For the Birds!

Hello and welcome,
thanks for stopping by my blog!

I love a good print, especially a figural or whimsical one,
and have a number of pieces of clothing featuring them
Are you a fan of prints, or are solids more your style?
I love both!
This week I thought I would feature
two very different skirts shopped from my closet with figural prints,
both of birds

My first outfit features a vintage 1970's sky blue wrap skirt
with a fun, hand made block border print in white
It looks like a stylized water foul of some sort, maybe in the swan family?
A very comical looking bird, for sure!
Wearing this one of a kind skirt with a top I found in a similar shade of blue
under a white denim jean jacket
I also wore this versatile denim jacket a few weeks ago on the blog,
over a dress, in a post about stripes

Fanciful birds!

Carrying my circular natural wicker sea shell decorated bag

Just a few simple accessories with this outfit
A silver tone multi band cuff bracelet
and hand made sterling silver bird earrings to follow the theme!
I chose a shell print scarf in blue tones for my hair

Tan retro look wedge sandals from Crown Vintage to finish the look
These are super comfortable, and have a very 1970's vibe

Another bird print skirt from my closet that I haven't worn for a while
This one is a large repeating print of a pair of blue birds on a peach background
This outfit took some time to come together
In the past I have worn it with white, as the colors in the skirt are difficult to match
Today, I styled it with a light blue and white striped top and a light blue wash denim blazer
The colors seem to blend pretty well

Silver tone jewelry with a hammered collar necklace,
flower shaped stud earrings and the same multi band bracelet
as my first outfit

Carrying a neutral light tan half circle bag,

and wearing light tan braided strap block heel sandals to finish the look

I love to watch the shore bird's antics!
This photo was from earlier this year, and fits in so well with the bird theme of this post
These lovely Tundra Swans have flown back to their northern homes for the summer months
but will return to populate our shores come fall

Hope everyone has a good week!

Pantone Tangelo Orange

Hello and welcome, thanks for stopping by my blog!

All of the bright, warm colors are trending this season,
since Pantone named Tangelo Orange, Empire Yellow,
and Love Bird (a bright yellow green)-all colors for 2023
Are you favoring any of these bright citrusy hues for summer?

This week I am styling two outfits in Tangelo Orange 🍊
and as it turns out, I paired the color both times with white
Reminds me of Creamsicle ice cream

The color Tangelo has really taken off for spring,
and the shops are full of it in all sorts of refreshing and creative pieces

M first casual outfit is built around an orange and white semi sheer print blouse
It is a bib front design, embellished with brass tone studs
Worn over a white camisole with white ankle cropped denim jeans

Such pretty attention to detail on this blouse

Carrying my 60's vintage pebble grain orange leather clutch

For jewelry, I chose a bold embossed flower design brass cuff bracelet,
my favorite summer half daisy earrings from Betsy Johnson,
and an arrow collar necklace

Fringed raffia band strap wedge sandals
with sparkly gold details to finish this summertime look

Next, a skirt in a geometric print in Tangelo and white
I like the the knife pleat style of this skirt,
but proportionally, I think this outfit is not the best-
I will have to try again, maybe with a shorter top
I find midi skirts a bit tricky to wear,
and would like this skirt better if it was knee length or a full on maxi
Anyway, worn here with a white jacket with short puffed sleeves
and flapped cargo hip pockets

A turquoise bag seemed fresh and summery
together with the bright orange in the skirt

I picked gold geometric jewelry to match the vibe of the skirt's print
Bright gold tone reticulated V-shaped link necklace,
vintage 1960s earrings that were a wonderful Etsy find
and an expansion bracelet of turquoise bars

White crossed ankle strap sandals trimmed with a touch of blue print
 to complete the outfit

Possibly part of the inspiration for all of the spring and summer orange
A bouquet of Tiger Lilies from the garden back

We have a growing population of white tail deer
in the habitat on the island where I live
They normally don't eat out of the flower beds,
but this year, they munched the majority of the Lilly buds right off the stems!
Not just in our garden, but all the neighbors, too
I was lucky to salvage a few for a bouquet and brought them safely inside
Next year i will be prepared with something to spray on the flowers
that the 🦌 do not like so well
Missing them until (hopefully) next summer!

Hope everyone enjoys their week!
