Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

For the Thanksgiving holiday this year I chose two outfits that are a little bit dressy
My goal with these outfits is to project a positive, upbeat vibe
and a little bit of dress up fun can help
It has been a difficult year, so I am striving to spread as much warmth and happiness
as I possibly can!

My first outfit is not a natural choice,
it took some playing around with and thinking outside the box
It was a fun and creative process, and I am pleased with the way it turned out
(this time!)
Wearing a tan perforated leather jacket with white trim
 over a white camisole top
Paired with a brick red floral midi skirt with an asymmetrically ruffle
These are season spanning pieces, but I have never worn them together,
and usually choose them for spring

Together with the fall accessories,
I think the pieces give a festive, autumnal vibe

Carrying a red square quilted bag
This bag is by Mango, and has a convertible chain cross body strap
I have gotten a lot of us from it, but faux leather tends to have a short life span
and it is starting to flake and show signs of wear-
too bad, I would love to clone it!

I picked out subtle, lustrous gold tone jewelry for this look
A collar necklace with discs all around, a yellow and rose gold wrap bracelet
and ball stud earrings

Tan suede mules with stacked wooden heels
to finish the outfit

I am loving the deep magenta
that is in the palette for fall and winter this year
With the Barbiecore craze, every shade of pink is trending
The deep shade of this shirt is a favorite

Wearing a tailored button down in a saturated shade of magenta tied at the waist
over a sleeveless cobalt blue flare skirted dress

I chose bold gold tone jewelry to complement the intense colors of this outfit
A collar necklace of "V" shaped links, a triangular blue dyed fossil bracelet
and embossed stud earrings

Carrying a bright pink fold-over flap bag

Wine colored suede asymmetrical strap heels to finish the look

The photo below is from fall, 2018
I am wearing the same dress as the outfit above, in a similar color combination,
but with a bell sleeve magenta and cobalt lace print blouse underneath the dress
Still a lot more ways to restyle this dress!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday this year
Stay safe and enjoy!

I'm taking a little holiday blog break
See you in December, when the world turns from orange to red and green๐ŸŽ„!

Borrowed from the Boys

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!
Tailored dressing never goes out of style, but this season it's very much in
Sweater vests have been trending for the past few seasons
and bold shouldered blazers and suiting is trending this fall
It seems like a good time to share a few looks borrowed from the boys

My first outfit is in one of my favorite color combinations-red, white and blue
All of these basic pieces could be considered menswear inspired:
A classic cut button down shirt, sweater vest and tailored straight leg trousers,
as well as my penny loafer flats

The tiny ditsy floral pattern on the shirt
adds a feminine touch, as well as my accessories

Carrying my red drawstring pouch bag,

with a red and navy striped hair band and simple gold tone jewelry
Chain link earrings and an asymmetrical hinged necklace

There's not much that is more classic than loafers
I have had these for quite a while, but don't wear them very often
I like that they are a little different, in a two toned neutral animal print
mixed with a darker brown

My next outfit highlights the sharp tailoring in skirts and jackets that is all over this season
I have also been seeing a lot of full on skirt and pant suits in matching bright colors
Think about those Barbiecore two piece jacket skirt and pant suits that are really hot right now
It seem like the designers are collectively trying to nudge us out of athleisure wear
and into more structured dressing
I wonder if it will catch on? Time will tell
Wearing a light tan double breasted jacket
belted over a blue-grey asymmetrical faux wrap skirt
I wore this jacket earlier this fall in the beginning of October
in a post about neutrals color worn with a pop of color

Sharp shoulders and details

Carrying my two tone navy and wine mini bucket bag with tassels

I chose a vintage scarf to tie the two colors of the jacket and skirt together
The blazer is an odd shade of tan, it has a little bit of a mauve tone to it
I thought it would be very versatile,
but it turns out to be difficult to blend with the things I thought it would work with
Judging colors under fluorescent store lighting is a challenge!

For jewelry, chunky gold tone hoops and a free form hinged bracelet

Shiny red patent leather pumps for a bit of color

Flashback to 2018
I remember waistcoats, as well as long vests where trending at this time
I still have all of the pieces in this outfit
I am thinking about other ways to style this voluminous plaid skirt this winter

Not much color in the garden just now
Here are some cheerful red and yellow flowers from six months ago
back in the spring

Hope everyone has a good week!

Red Accessories

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

I am fond of the color red and wear it quite a lot,
in both my clothing and accessories
For me, the color is happy and energizing
Shades of red are in rotation in my wardrobe, no matter what the season,
or whether or not red is in the fashion spotlight at the moment-it's a classic color!
This fall season red happens to be very on trend,
since Pantone has named Lava Red as one of it's colors of the year
I thought I would devote this post to showing some of my many red accessories,
I did a post with some of my Lava Falls Red clothing pieces back in October

My first outfit with red accessories is a sage green drape front cropped jacket
layered over a black sleeveless midi dress with a tiered skirt
(hard to see the details in black)

To add color to this outfit in subdued colors, I added red accessories
I chose a favorite red vintage handbag, from the 50's
This bag has an unusual silver tone frame and decorative hardware

Also, wearing a wide red leather belt with silver tone buckle

Nude with black toe cap block heel sling backs
to finish the look

Next, an outfit of blue, green and white
with red accessories for pops of color

Navy blue and forest green striped blazer over a white tailored shirt
with dark wash high waisted, flared denim jeans

Carrying a red satchel bag with bold buckle detail on the handles

I also added an array of red accessories:
Vintage 50's expandable plastic bracelet and a different red belt,
this one is a braided pattern
Also wearing silver tone hoop earrings

I chose this seldom worn 40's vintage brooch for another pop of color
Red rhinestones in the stylized shape of berries maybe? or flower buds?
It is silver tone with painted leaves and stem

I like to wear mules and slides and have had this pair of neutral tan suede ones for several years
They are a sort of hybrid shoe bootie and I have been choosing them a lot this fall

An outfit with red accessories from the past:
around this time of year in 2018,
and another favorite vintage bag, this one from the 60's that I wear frequently

 Hope everyone enjoys there week!
