Pearly 80's Retro style sweater

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog!

There has been a lot of vintage influence from several decades
trending in fashion for the past few years
Today I'm focusing on the 80's
The comeback of defined shoulders after a long hiatus,
along with special sleeve treatments of all sorts
are looks borrowed from the over the top fashion of the 80's
Other "new" trends from this decade-high waisted jeans and trousers,
neon and super bright and saturated colors!

Today I am featuring two outfits incorporating a pullover
with a throwback 80's feel to it, into very wearable looks
(without the high drama of the decade)
My sweater is a light tan color with trademark 80's puffed sleeve caps,
a diamond pattern embroidered stitch, and clusters of tiny faux pearls
Worn over a classic brown and tan geometric print jersey wrap dress

Carrying my red heart ❤️ shaped bag for a splash of primary color

For jewelry, I chose a 70's vintage open faux tortoise shell cuff bracelet
and cute pearl encrusted owl earrings

Wearing brown and tan reptile embossed sling back
Mary Janes to finish the look

Another outfit with this fun, embellished  pullover
This time paired with tailored ivory color ankle crop trousers

Accessorizing with a heart motif pendent necklace
a 50's vintage aqua diamond shaped link bracelet
and pearl stud earrings

Carrying a black and white pleated fabric clutch bag
with a heart and polka dot print

Nude with black toe cap sling back spectators
to complete the outfit

Pearls are classic and timeless,
and pearl embellishments are trending big this winter and into spring
I don't have many clothing items decorated with pearls,
with the exception of this sweater and a bag,
but I do have a collection of vintage pearl jewelry
I don't wear these often,
but this may be a good time to bring some of them out of the jewelry box!

The pair of 1950's elephant scatter pins were a sweet gift from my husband,
the wishbone brooch, also from the 50's, belonged to my grandmother
The little flower petal stud earrings with the pearl centers were given to me by my mother,
and I wore the dainty double strand pearl bracelet on the right to my wedding
The rest of these pearls were acquired from vintage and antique shops
My husband and I used to like to dress up for big band and swing dance events-
that's how we meet in 1991
I wore the dainty double strand pearl bracelet on the right to my wedding
Lots of fond memories attached to these pearls

Hope everyone has a great week!

Coatigans for the Winter Weather

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog today!

The winter weather is still with us, brrrr-
and I am still piling on the layers
Looking forward to the spring warm up
and counting down the weeks!

For really chilly days a coatigan,
or any long, thick, cozy sweater in your closet is a great choice!
I grabbed these two coatigans earlier in the autumn as outerwear,
Now I'm wearing them indoors as part of an outfit

My first look this week is a brick red open coatigan in a chunky ribbed knit
This sweater came with a faux leather cord waist tie belt
that didn't seem to compliment it at all, so I don't wear them together
Today, I am layering a lightweight ivory cashmere V neck sweater underneath
All of these pieces have been in my wardrobe for several years,
but I just realized that this jersey midi skirt is a perfect match
with the coatigan-it almost looks like a set
I love to stumble across combinations of pieces like this in my closet
that I had not put together before

Accessorizing with this very special brightly colored vintage astrological motif scarf

Carrying a camel tan camera style handle bag
decorated with studs and a yellow Hibiscus flower

I chose a large gold tone oval link bracelet and
woven motif clip on hoop earrings for jewelry

Tan leather stacked heel loafers to complete the outfit

For my next look I am wearing an ivory color coatigan
with a large tan and red plaid pattern
I wore this sweater/jacket back in January in a post featuring neutral colors
Worn this time layered over a red sleeveless sheath dress
that is a versatile workhorse in my wardrobe

Accessorizing with a red neck scarf 🧣 tied in a bow
and carrying a vintage taupe leather trimmed Dooney & Bourke mini saddle bag

For jewelry, I added a hand carved wooden sailboat brooch,
a gold tone knot bracelet and teardrop stud earrings

Taupe suede cross strap block heel pumps to finish the outfit

Another warm and cozy coatigan from winter, 2019

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Bundle Up! Warm Winter Knits

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Cozy sweater knits are always popular when winter rolls around,
and this season is no exception
It's snowing here in Maryland again today,
and Punxsutawney Phil did not have good news for us on Groundhog Day,
predicting more winter weather and a late spring thaw

Thankfully, there are a wide variety of knits trending this year to keep us warm!
I'm seeing body hugging fine gauge ribbed knit dresses and pants,
big chunky oversized cable stitched sweaters and everything in between
Sweater knits are the stars of many outfits during this time of year
so I thought I would feature a few I've been wearing lately in this post

My first outfit is a bold black, tan and rust leopard print open front cardigan
worn over two neutral basics: A tan knit top and black straight leg, high waisted denim jeans

Carrying a black and tan mini bucket bag-
 a really matchy look today

A bold print seems to call for bold jewelry
so I picked out a substantial gold tone asymmetrical bracelet,
chunky chain link initial necklace and faceted dome stud earrings

I rejected several pairs of shoes before settling on these
I could really used some semi dressy black booties
for full length pants this winter
I see an excuse for some shopping in my future!

This next outfit is built around a rose coral V neck cardigan
with two vertical rows of sweet ruffles
Paired with a tan tweed flared skirt with big flapped hip pockets

Love this rosey color to lighten up a darker winter palette

Carrying a taupe and brown reptile print vintage clutch
with a knotted taupe headband in my hair

A little lighter and less bold gold tone jewelry for this look
Multi strand chain necklace, animal print hinged bracelet
and chain link drop earrings

Taupe suede cross strap block heel pumps to finish the look

A cozy sweater dress outfit from winter, 2018

Keep warm, and hope everyone has a good week!

Valentine's Week

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Continuing this week with a few more outfits
that fit the Valentine's theme
I love wearing red and pink, hearts and flowers all year around,
but this time of year is an especially good time
to bring out some favorites

My first outfit is a red tone on tone blouse with
long full sleeves and a sash tie waist
It is similar in style to the black and white polka dot blouse
I wore last week on the blog
The waist ties are not as long and dramatic
and this blouse is not a true wrap, but a faux wrap style
I paired it with a multi color abstract floral print full skirt

Heart shaped jewelry ❤️ of course!
A long pendent heart necklace
and hand crafted inlayed heart shaped stud earrings

Carrying a red patent leather baguette fold over clutch

I chose these multi colored rainbow slides to finish this festive look
These shoes are so cute, but walking in this heel is a bit tricky-
Special occasion shoes, for sure!

My next outfit this week is a more casual look with another pretty blouse
This one is blush pink with a ditsy pattern of tiny white hearts
and a small stand up ruffled collar
Worn with a mid wash button front denim skirt

💕💕💕

Carrying my 1950's vintage pink patent leather clutch

I pinked out some pink and pearly accessories!
Double faux pearl drop earrings, metallic pink bow belt,
and pink leather cord for a hair accessory

Taupe suede cross strap block heels to finish this Valentine's theme outfit

A bouquet of pink and red carnations for everyone!

Hope you all have a lovely week!
