Happy Halloween!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Halloween is here and along with it, all the ghostsπŸ‘» and goblins!
I look forward to doling out the sweet treats,
and seeing all the kids decked out in their costumes
Our neighborhood also hosts a pre-trick or treat party,
where the kids, adults (and pets) are encouraged to parade their creations
in a costume judging event complete with prizes
It's so much fun!
Will you be getting in costume
or going to any Halloween parties?

I'll be wearing my Hell Bunny dress
I've had it for quite a few years,
and I always get it out at least once around Halloween
It looks like a pretty, full skirted, floral print, fit and flare dress,
until you look close and discover the white part of the print is skullsπŸ’€!

Pink and purple posies and skulls

Roger's Halloween accessories
I am glad he likes to play along!

Some spooky accessories on me:
Rhinestone snake hairband,
black glass stone encrusted spider bracelet
and oxidized vintage silver tone chain necklace

Carrying a silver metallic quilted chain strap bag

Black suede block heel sling backs with stylized bows
to finish the look

Here is another October outfit, with just a slight nod to Halloween-
a black and white bug print blouse
I have had this blouse for several years also,
and I like the quirky, unexpected touch the print adds to a look
Bug blouse worn under a roll tab sleeve blazer with black straight leg trousers
I think I have mentioned this before on the blog,
but does anyone else find the current crop of neutrals a little hard to work with?
This blazer is a color described as "Ace Beige"
Under the florescent lighting in the retail store where I purchased it,
I thought I could work with the color
But once I got it home, it looks sort of muddy, and a slightly mauve-ish hue
It does not look right with any of my other neutrals, except for black and white
so black and white it is!

Adding a little color with my jewelry
An adorable vintage 1940's green lucite dog brooch,
Kate Spade gold tone and green stone open cuff bracelet
and chain link earrings

A little more green in the accessories for this otherwise neutral outfit
A reptile embossed bag that has a handle that adjusts to a shoulder strap

Same black suede sling backs my first outfit to finish the look

I add this image because of it's Halloween vibe!
I was trying for an outfit photo to participate in the Songful Style Link Up Party in September,
representing the song "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri from the Twilight Saga
My experimentation did not work out as planned
but did turn out looking kind of spooky!

Hope everyone enjoys their week and Halloween! πŸŽƒ

Orange: The Color of October

Hello and welcome-thanks for stopping by my blog!

Orange is surely THE color of October,
with the brilliantly changing colors of the leaves 🍁 on the trees
and the Halloween holiday, making pumpkins the decor of choice πŸŽƒ!

This post is going to feature some outfits using the color orange
that are already in my closet,
remixed in different ways from previous wearings
How do your feel about wearing orange?
It is such a happy and uplifting color!
Is there much in your closet,
or are you planning to purchase any shades of orange this season?
Orange certainly has been a big color trend over the past few years
Although I don't have a lot of orange clothing in my closet,
I do have quite a few accessories in this color
Adding orange is a great way to put a pop of color in an outfit

My first look features a print mix
with a vintage 1970's wrap dress in a geometric print
of brown, orange and white
I am wearing it with a printed accessory piece, also vintage from the 1970's
It is a sash with an astrological sign print
in a combination of the very same three colors in the dress-
 orange, with brown and white!

Layering a white top under the dress, which has a very deep V neck

Carrying a camel tan faux woven box clutch

Here is a better photo of the unusual and detailed print on the sash

I chose vintage 3-D flower petal earrings in orange enamel,
A DIY  distressed bronze tone rhinestone encrusted leaf πŸ‚ necklace
and an animal print bangle to complement the look

Finishing this outfit in autumnal colors with two tone block heel Mary Jane slides

My second outfit this week features a bright red-orange, long V-neck cardigan
that seemed perfect for this month!
Worn casually with a white crew neck top and dark wash flare leg denim jeans

The extras with this outfit are what makes it special
I dressed it up with a lively multi colored beaded headband
I really like the bright thick and thin stripe design of it
Carrying a small cognac color tulip design tote bag in two textiles-
vegan leather and faux suede

For jewelry, I chose a vintage 1960's brooch in a modern stylized 3-D flower motif
in red, orange and yellow to pin on the sweater
Other jewelry pieces include a burnished yellow and rose gold wrap bracelet
 and small hoop earrings

The scarf is also vintage, and is such a treasure
I am picturing it flat because tied around my neck
you cannot appreciate the wonderful graphic design of the horn instruments!
It is a bright, high contrast color combo of red-orange and white

Cognac braided block heel slides to finish this upbeat look

The same cardigan worn in October 2019
with an orange floral print blouse and navy cropped trousers

Orange frosted cookies for an orange colored month!

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Autumn Palette

Hello, welcome and thanks for stopping by my blog!

In the fall, and in all seasons really,
I  like to wear some outfits with a seasonal vibe
This means now is the time for a little bit of autumn color!
I did a seasonal color analysis for skin tone and hair years ago,
and according to the experts, I am a winter
I think the winter palette makes pretty good sense for me,
and I agree that I look best when wearing colors with cool undertones,
whether they be bright, mid-tone or pastel
The brights are my favorites to wear, though
But, I like variety and to go with the seasonal flow
So in October and November especially,
I mix in some earthly tones and neutrals
Have you had your seasonal color palette determined?
I found it an interesting and helpful guide,
but definitely don't stick strictly to it
There are so very many factors that go into what we wear and why!

My first outfit this week is a basic ivory cashmere V neck pullover sweater
paired with an asymmetrical hem skirt in an abstract print with a flouncy ruffled hem
The print has a mix of muted fall tones, including shades of rust and orange

Carrying my two tone vegan leather and fabric bag
I think this bag would work for all seasons
but the brown tones seem especially right for fall

To compliment the golden hues of autumn
I am wearing my brass tone reticulated butterfly necklace,
a gold tone chunky wrap bracelet and hoop earrings

Tawny brown curved top ankle boots with brass studs
and wooden stack heels to finish the outfit

My second outfit this week
features a classic light tan blazer style jacket that has a fall-like feeling
This shade goes well with many other colors in my wardrobe
Worn here over a column of black-a black camisole and black trousers

Carrying m dark red square quilted bag
and wearing a favorite mixed animal print scarf
Animal prints and autumn 🍁 were made for each other!

For jewelry, I chose a wide, gold-tone buckle detail cuff bracelet,
link design hoop earrings, and a unique vintage leather 3-D rose brooch-
I am always open to adding a little color to a neutral outfit!

Denim:  The quintessential autumn textile,
paired here with a rich burgundy background print blouse
with orange, blue and white in the print
This was three years ago, in October 2020

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Sweater Weather

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog!

It's definitely become sweater weather here in Maryland,
prompting me to start switching out my wardrobe this weekend!
Classic pullover sweaters are trending big this fall which is great,
because they are staples that nearly everyone already has in their wardrobe
This week I am styling two favorites from my closet, worn with skirts
Are you a fan of the classic pullover?
Do you have any that have been languishing in your dresser or closet
that would love to come out and be seen?

My first outfit is a red one in a soft cashmere blend
that has been going strong in my wardrobe for over five years
Pullover sweaters never truly go out of style,
they are a wardrobe staple for many of us
Worn with a black ribbed tank underneath
and an olive green midi pencil skirt

Carrying a dark red satchel bag with bold silver tone buckle hardwear

Accessorizing with a mixed metal eagle necklace,
a red leather band bracelet with metal peace symbols applied all around
and silver tone hoop earrings-a little bit Rock and Roll!

These leopard print low heel sling backs are a favorite pair of mine,
purchased back when leopard prints first started to make a big comeback
They have clear sequins attached that add just the right amount of bling
to work well for day of evening
They have held up much better than I thought, not one single sequin is missing!

My second outfit this week is a sky blue crewneck pullover with a vertical cable design
Pairing it with a camel color wool knee length skirt with a flouncy ruffled hem

I love this little vintage bag, I wore it in last week's post, too
It has a small reptile textured pattern and adds a great pop of color
in an unusual shade of blue

I chose some classic shiny gold tone jewelry pieces to compliment this look
Vintage organic shaped clip on earrings, hinged bar bracelet
and a disc pendant necklace by Lucky Brand that I have been wearing a lot lately

You can't really see the print on this very special scarf
when it's being worn around mt neck, so here it is spread out
It is silk, and from the 1940's, and has the most precious print of puppies
on a blue and aqua background

Two tone camel and light tan block heel Mary Janes
to finish the outfit

Roger in a navy, sky blue and ivory argyle sweater,
a fall favorite pattern, for a matchy-matchy look!

I hope everyone enjoys their week!
