New Year's Eve

Happy New Year to you all,
and thank you for taking a few moments during this very busy season
to visit my blog!

Today I will be sharing my New Year's Eve outfit,
and a little bit of nostalgia

For the celebratory evening
I chose a bright pink extended sleeve lace blouse
and a very special vintage 1950's circle skirt

The fabric of the skirt is a swishy taffeta with
strings of multi colored applied sequins randomly swirling through the print-so fancy!
I wonder who wore this special skirt first, and for what occasion?
It is fun to imagine

Here is a close up of the details on the skirt,
the sequin strings are a little hard to detect in a photo,
but they sparkle in real life!

Here it is spread out-it is a full circle, as was the height of fashion
during the late 40's and early 50's!

Carrying my magenta bag with stylized gold trimmed bow,

and picked out sparkly gold tone jewelry, of course!
A beaded hairband, a chunky open wave design cuff bracelet,
and curling drop earrings

Magenta kitten heel slides to finish this holiday outfit

Here is a little bit of nostalgia for my last post of 2023!
Roger and I meet at the beginning of 1991
at a party at a studio that taught ballroom dancing
He was taking lessons at the studio at the time
I had joined my roommate Megan to the studio's Friday night dance party,
where a mini Waltz lesson was being taught for anyone who wanted to join in
Megan wanted to learn to dance the waltz for her upcoming wedding,
( I went along for moral support,
as the groom to be was not quite yet on board for a wedding waltz)
As it turned out, Megan learned the basics of Waltz,
and I met the love of my life!

We went  ballroom dancing a lot during our early years of dating

Hope everyone has a lovely evening ringing in the New Year,
wherever you are and however you are celebrating,
And best wishes for a fantastic 2024!

Just to let you know, next week I am going to start posting on Tuesdays,
instead of Sundays, hope to see you here!

Happy Holidays!

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog
I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season-
I can hardly believe Christmas is almost here!

Green is extra popular this holiday season,
since it is both a big seasonal color, and has been a huge fashion color for 2023, too
What colors will you be wearing over the holidays-
The traditional Christmas colors of red and green?
Or maybe the metallics that are so on trend now have caught your eye
Today, I am going with bright festive green
I love the beautiful lace and scalloped hem on this dress
It is sleeveless, so for winter, I am wearing a jacket layer over top

The jacket is perfect for the holidays-
a little dressed up with black piping and a pearl embellished collar

Carrying my black and white pleated fabric clutch
with a dot and heart print,
and wearing and dot print bow hairband

I chose some special jewelry for this outfit
Pearl stud earrings, my hinged gold tone bow bracelet and two vintage pieces from the 1950's
A sweet locket with a pair of love birds etched onto the front,
and a poodle brooch decked out for Christmas in a red Santa hat
and decorated with green holly sprigs!
How adorable is that?

Black d'Orsay heels to finish this holiday outfit

I little red, and a lot of green,
Roger is wearing his Santa tie

My second outfit this week is more casual, but still in the holiday spirit
Wearing a pretty V neck chiffon blouse
printed with large red roses 🌹  paired with classic black straight leg trousers

Carrying one of my more unusual vintage bags from the 1950's
It is a red leather box bag in an elongated curved shape
I love the fine craftsmanship and details of things the from decades past!

For jewelry, I chose my red enamel hearts necklace,
shiny silver tone flower shaped stud earrings,
and a wide criss cross design open cuff bracelet

Black suede bow detail sling back pumps to finish the outfit

Some festive treats-
I made double chocolate muffins for the holidays!

Best wishes for a great week to all of you!

Holiday Spirit-Christmas Will Be Here Before We Know It!

Seasons greetings, and thanks for stopping by my blog today!

The holiday season is passing so quickly, in a whirlwind really,
skipping along from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas,
and then it is all over until next year (HallowThanksMas?)

Anyone else's head spinning? Don't forget to make time to really enjoy it all!

This week, I'm wearing two outfits featuring holiday colors, or course!
My first look is a forest green maxi dress with a white floral spray print
An easy choice for the busy holidays-one and done
This dress has a lot of pretty details to make it special all on it's own
It is wrap style and lined, with long sheer sleeves and smocked elastic cuffs
The hem is slightly asymmetrical, shorter in the front
and has a deep ruffled hem-fancy!

Adding a little bit of the metallic trend that is so popular right now
  with my bronze clutch bag,
and wearing a green retro elephant figure clasp belt

I chose sparkly bold golden jewelry to fit in with the festive season
Wide woven collar necklace, gold bead hair band
and vintage 50's/60's graceful leaf shaped earrings

These shoes have been so versatile, which is hard to believe!
They are leopard print sling back pumps with clear sequins attached
They have worn surprisingly well and have a comfortable, walkable 2 1/2" heel
They are from Anne Klein, and have been worth their weight in glitzy gold
This is one of the few brands of shoes that I can confidently order over the internet
because they generally fit.

My second outfit is neutral, with festive accents in red
Can't possibly go through the Christmas season without wearing the color red! ❤️
This is the tan cropped cardigan that I also wore for one of my outfits on my Thanksgiving post
Today I layered  the sweater over an ivory chiffon bow blouse,
and pairing it with a plaid skirt with all around box pleats
The plaid in the skirt is wavy, and reminds me a bit of Christmas ribbon

For jewelry, I followed the ribbon theme with a gold tone twisted bangle
and dangling curved earrings
Also wearing a sweet 1950's vintage brooch
of a puppy holding his red enamel Christmas stocking-so cute!

Carrying a favorite red vinyl 1960's mod box bag

Finishing this holiday look with red suede Maryjanes with bow detail

From our house to yours-Happy Holidays!
🎄🎅🤶

I'll close with some Christmas table decor-the adorable winking Santa pitcher is from the 60's

I hope everyone enjoys the week!

Embracing the Vest Trend

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Waistcoat style vests reemerged on the fashion scene this past summer
and have really been a strong trend for the fall and winter season, too
I see them all over the internet but strangely, not many in the shops
Sort of like the denim maxi skirt the past summer-very late to arrive in the stores

This week I am styling two waistcoat vests from my closet
I think this is a trend I can really get on board with!
I love the sweater vest trend that is still going strong also,
and have added a few to my wardrobe
All types of vests are such great layering options
Since they are not always readily available,
I will be on the lookout for some more colorful ones!

My first outfit is a grey one button cutaway style waistcoat,
vest I have had for a few years
I am wearing it with two purple pieces of the same shade-
a long sleeve knit top and a pleated midi skirt

Always up for a twirly skirt
and a long pleated one really delivers on the swish factor!

My sweet husband likes to
check his closet to see what he has to match my outfit

To blend with my vintage silk purple and teal scarf
he chose a Jerry Garcia purple and blue tie,
pretty good eye, right?

I picked out some gold tone jewelry:
A vintage shaggy dog brooch pinned to my vest,
and large vintage rectangular amethyst colored glass earrings
One more piece, a modern hinged bar bracelet
I like to mix it up!

Carrying a sixties vintage buckle detail pebble grain dove grey bag

Dark grey cross strap block heel pumps to finish the look
If these look familiar, I have them it taupe, too
I rarely buy things in multiples
These were purchased two years after the taupe pair,
 which have become favorites!

My next outfit revolves around another waistcoat style vest
This one is of a different style, with a higher scoop neckline
and five silver tone buttons up the front
It is a black and white heather fabric with black piping
Worn layered over a rose pink silky shirt
and with classic black straight leg trousers

I added some feminine details to this menswear look
A white scarf with polka dots in shades of pink,
and a lilac top knot hair band
For jewelry, I went vintage again, with 1950's silver tone stylized star or pin wheel earrings
and a chunky purple plastic expansion bracelet

Carrying a circular black and white plaid handle bag

These are the same shoes as in the first outfit

December 1st was my birthday, and I had a very happy one!
Us December borns have one big celebration going on from Thanksgiving to New Year's-
I'm enjoying the ride!

Lovely bouquet from my dear Roger

Our neighbors are starting to decorate outdoors-I better get going
One neighbor made this wreath with greenery and berries from her garden-beautiful!
I do have the tree up and the lights on it-
so it's a start

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Thanksgiving Greetings!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all,
and thank you for stopping by my blog!

The holiday season sort of snuck up on me this year
It's been sort of a blur of activity from Halloween to nearly Thanksgiving
How about you?

My first outfit is a fall classic for the traditional family holiday
Don't want to offend any relatives with my outrageous and inappropriate style choices-lol!

A tan blazer is adaptable to all seasons
but first and foremost, it always seems perfect for fall 🍁

I wore this jacket earlier in the season in a post about an autumn palette
Today I am wearing it with a jersey knit top and midi skirt
in one of the Pantone colors for the season called Red Dahlia-
yes to all the reds!

This scarf is worn folded in half, tied at the back of my neck
and tucked loosely into the front of the skirt
I have worn a smaller scarf similarly, in this sort of cowgirl/western style,
but of all the many ways I've worn scarves, I have never tried this
What do you think? The scarf almost looks like a colorful blouse with the jacket over it

I chose some warm, gold tone jewelry to complement the outfit
A hinged bracelet, and two vintage pieces from the fifties/sixties
A cute shaggy dog brooch and a pair of atomic design clip on earrings
The earrings were a bit of a gamble, purchased them online on Etsy,
but they did not disappoint-I love them!

Another accessory from the same vintage era is this
hardshell envelope bag in an embossed tan reptile print

Taupe cross strap block heels to finish the outfit

Roger is a man of many talents and neckties!
He is sure to make a matching statement with my outfit!

For my next outfit, I am trying a whole different vibe,
and going from muted tones to bright, festive color!
This dress is an oldy but goody, in a favorite style
It is sleeveless, and I usually wear it in spring and summer,
but I thought I would try it out layered for fall
Because, you know-orange!
Diagonally striped fit and flare dress
with a tan cropped cardigan layered over it

Carrying a caramel color croc embossed handlebag

A mix of vintage and modern jewelry, again for this outfit
Chunky gold tone square/round hoop earrings,
a 1950's expandable gold tone bracelet,
and a very special 1940's carved Lucite bird pin

To finish the outfit, two tone camel and light tan Maryjane slides

A little Thanksgiving decor-
Accordion paper turkey from the 90's,
and cornucopia glassware from the 40's

I hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy holiday!
I will be taking a short blogging break next Sunday
hope to see you in two weeks!
