Bright Blue in the Mix!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog
I hope everyone is having a happy Memorial Day celebration!

This spring and summer season is all about bold color
For this post, I am shopping my closet 🛍
for outfits centered around bright, bold royal blue
I choose this color frequently, because I find it uplifting and I love to wear it
Royal blue is especially great in the springtime, with it's nautical vibe,
and I have plenty of the color in my wardrobe to chose from

My first outfit starts with a sleeveless fit and flare royal blue dress
This style and color are staples for me, that I wear all year round
I have worn this versatile dress in every season,
alone with a few key accessories, as well as with a layer over or under it

Today I am wearing the dress under a top
with a large blue and white gingham print to give it a seasonal vibe!

Carrying my circular straw bag with the sea shell motif
for the first time this season,
and wearing a red and white scarf in my hair

For jewelry I chose a 1950's vintage white plastic expansion bracelet,
silver tone knot motif bracelet, and star shaped stud earrings

It's almost summer, so time to break out the espadrilles!
A red and white striped pair with red laces
to finish the look

My second outfit also features royal blue,
and items that I have been mixing and matching
from spring and summer seasons past
Blue short sleeve top tied at the waist
over a multicolored paint drip look print dress

Carrying a 1960's vintage  bright yellow patent leather bag
that I don't use often enough
It may get out of the closet more now,
since yellow is a big fashion color this season
I am seeing that a lot of bright color is trending into the fall, also
Glad to see Dopamine dressing continue to be so popular!

Gold tone jewelry for this outfit includes
open circle shaped earrings, a hinged bar bracelet
and a special vintage locket with two love birds etched onto the front

Teal open toe cork wedge sandals to finish the outfit
These shoes have been in my giveaway pile several times,
but I always pull them back out
They have a sort of retro look and the unusual color
draws them back to me!

The blouse in the first outfit seems to have become one of my summer holiday go-to's
Looking back, I noticed I wore it
in my Independence Day post styled with a favorite pair of white denim jeans

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Memorial Day outfit ideas

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog

The long Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner!

I seem to favor this navy blue and red striped midi tee shirt dress
for spring and summer patriotic holidays
It is a very comfortable ribbed knit and has a sporty athleisure vibe
I wore it styled differently for my Labor Day post last year
For the upcoming Memorial Day holiday I am styling the dress
under a classic white duck cloth blazer
Although Memorial Day is the holiday signaling
that summer is on it's way holiday,
it is still a bit chilly here, and the weather is unpredictable
Temperatures are dipping and rising wackily from the 60's to the 80's
So the shorts and breezy summer dresses will have to wait a few more weeks!

Pinning on a very special 1940's vintage red, white and blue brooch
for the occasion
It is a plastic disc with two applied 3-D steam boats
Ocean travel by boat was very popular during the 1920's-40's,
especially for vacationers, so I think the brooch has a very festive nautical holiday vibe!

Another favorite colorful vintage accessory is the multi-colored box bag
that I am carrying
It is made of woven strips and beads and is from the 1950's
Also wearing a red leather strap bracelet
with metal peace symbols attached all around

Navy blue block heel sling backs to finish this holiday outfit

Another possibility for the Memorial Day holiday
is this festive outfit in navy blue, white and Kelly green
This color combination has a holiday feeling to me
The stylized sea shell design cardigan is printed in high contrast navy and white
and just says summertime vacation to me!
Worn over a white tank top
and with white tailored straight leg trousers

Carrying a cute Kelly green pleather and linen woven fabric bucket bag

All the shades of green are so popular, now
I really favor this bright and cheerful Kelly green shade
Accessorizing with a preppy retro spouting whale print web belt
from the 90's, and a wide pleated hair band

I chose simple silver tone jewelry to go with this classic outfit
Textured hoop earrings, a hammered collar necklace
and link look cuff bracelet

These shoes look a lot like the ones in the first outfit
but they are shiny patent leather and have a short kitten heel
Both pairs get quite a bit of use, because I wear navy blue fairly often
in all seasons

Some yummy fresh fruit in red and blue-
perfect for a picnic!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Fun Fruit Prints-Vintage and Modern

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog

To all of the moms out there, I hope you had a Happy Mother's Day!
Also, Mother's Day is the perfect day to celebrate all of the women
who are the nurturers and caretakers of our families
that make the world a better place to be!

The topic for today: Fruit prints 🍎  🍍  🍓
I love these, because they are unusual and conversation starters
My first fruit print is on a skirt and is vintage, from the 1950's
It is a wild color way, which was very fashionable, and a mark of the 50's,
in turquoise, pink, acid yellow and black
It is a little difficult to make out while wearing it, because the print is so large and abstract,
but various types of fruit are in among wine bottles
I decided to go all out and wear this special skirt in a classic retro way
with a pink cropped knit vest over a Peter Pan collar white blouse
This vest has become a favorite
and I have styled it several times on the blog this past fall and winter

Complementing the bold print in the skirt
with a high contrast black and white striped handle bag

Wearing a pink 50's fashion girls print scarf in my hair

Accessorizing with a few pieces of classic gold tone jewelry-
a pendant disc necklace, love knot bracelet and ball stud earrings

Peep toe low wedge sling backs with buckle design
to finish this outfit

Next, a new dress by Betsy Johnson,
in cool aqua with a riotous over all print
of bright red strawberries 🍓
This dress has lots of pretty, feminine details,
like tiny ruffles around the neckline and tulip sleeves,
and a fitted high waist and deep ruffled hem

Carrying my 1960's vintage white wicker bag
with the plastic see through panel that shows the vibrant colorful lining

Sweet gold tone jewelry
with large heart shaped earrings, a bow motif bracelet
and the same disc necklace as my first outfit

This dress seemed the perfect opportunity
to wear my red and white striped, red ribboned espadrilles

Hope you enjoyed this fun post as much as I enjoyed wearing these outfits

Have a good week!

Spring Plaid

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

The majority of my plaid clothing is in heavier fabrics for fall and winter wear,
but there are a few exceptions

This week, I have pulled together two outfits with plaid patterns
that are perfect for spring

My first outfit is made up of a sleeveless dress
in a black and taupe plaid, on a white background
I have been perplexed about just when and how to wear this dress
It has been in my closet for several years, but seldom chosen
The fabric is lightweight, and it is clearly meant to be a spring and summer dress,
but most of the ways I have styled it in the past, have veered quite dark,
picking up the bold, black in the print and I have worn it in the fall
The dress is neutral, so I could wear it with any colors,
but the white bordered hem didn't seem quite right for layering it for winter
Since black and white are trending for spring this year,
a thought I would try the dress under a white blazer-
I think it brightens it up quite a bit!

The dress suffers from an identity crisis-
not sure if it is going to stay in my wardrobe

A bright pink bag seems just right
for a pop of this popular color for a springtime styling

Accessorizing with a gold tone chunky chain link initial necklace,
hinged bar bracelet and pink triangular stone stud earrings

Black wide strap block heel sandals to finish the outfit

A more subtle plaid pattern in pale pink, with a touch of blue and white
I wore this jacket back in very early spring,
in a post about the changeable weather of the month of March
The jacket is pretty versatile, and works especially well
for covering the bridge months in fall, and in spring, too
Today I am styling it with a column of denim
Denim colored V neck tee and mid wash boot cut jeans
of nearly the same color as the top
I'm a big fan of pink, but I'm not really crazy about this particular shade on me
It is the muted, dusty pinkish mauve
that is very popular now, and is a little difficult to describe-and to wear!
I have noticed a lot of muted, dusty neutrals and near neutrals
dominating the shops this season

Some jewelry I haven't worn for quite a while
seemed to suit this outfit
Two silver tone vintage pieces:
An unusual double link chain necklace
and a Sarah Coventry bracelet with multi colored oval faux stones
Also wearing a pair of my favorite hand crafted sterling silver bird earrings

Carrying a sweet little pale pink heart shaped handle bag

Buff color short western boots with stacked heels to finish the look

Blooming in the garden now,
A fragrant cluster of pink spring Hyacinth

As always, I hope you all have a good week!
