Summer shimmer

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Since the beginning of 2022
Since the beginning of 2022, all things shimmery and shiny have been trending
I think that collectively, we have all been missing the bling and craving it
Sequins and glitter are all over daywear,
as well as the usual special occasion and evening out pieces
I love sequins and all that glitters, and I think a lot of you do, too!
So for this post I chose two outfits with subtle shine
These pieces can be dressed up or down, and can fit easily into daytime wear

My first outfit is worn a bit dressed up
The dress has a sweet smocked bodice and square neckline
The colors are soft tones and neutrals: Taupe, pale lavender and ivory, in an abstract print
The dress has a lovely shimmer to it,
due to the gold metallic thread woven into the fabric

Carrying a pale lavender faux reptile mini handle bag

For jewelry, I chose burnished pieces with subtle shine
A romantic gold tone necklace of birds on a branch,
leather cord bracelet with a pale pink stone and dangling hoop earrings

Finishing the outfit with summery gold metallic criss cross strap sandals
with a woven wedge heel
Looking at these photos in hind sight,
the shoes look a bit too heavy for the ethereal floaty dress,
I will find a better match the next time I wear this dress

Next, is a blush color faux wrap dress with a flouncy ruffled hem
This dress is already gone from my closet
I consigned it, and hopefully it will get a new home
with some who loves it, a loves great in it!
I was attracted to the shimmery fabric, but the color is not for me
I feel a little ghostly in it

A shimmery ghost
The dress just doesn't seem to play well with other thinks in my closet either,
that I could layer with it to liven it up

Accessorizing with a vintage scalloped flap white beaded clutch from the 50's
and a 20's chiffon sash as a hair band

Although I am not crazy about the dress,
I like the shimmery jewelry, and will definitely be keeping it
and wearing it again and again!
Large silver tone 50's vintage flower shaped earrings with faux pearl centers,
pave twist collar necklace and link rhinestone heart charm bracelet

Nude tie cut out kitten heels to finish the look

Shimmering after a summer rain shower
Pink Hibiscus

Hope everyone is safe and well from the global heat wave
and has a good week to come!

All A-Flutter

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog, today!

Summertime is well and truly in full swing,
bringing with it all the hot and humid weather
Now is the perfect time for short, fluttery sleeves and light, breathable fabrics
so today I am featuring two outfits that fit the bill!

My first warm weather look is a pale blue linen blend blouse
with a split neck and sweet flutter sleeves
I also wore this blouse on the blog styled under a brightly floral print dress
this spring, in a post about florals
Today, I am styling the blouse with a white frayed asymmetrical hem denim skirt

This straw bag has become a seasonal staple for me
since I purchased it last spring
I love the round shape in woven straw, and the sea shell design-
it looks like a holiday!

My accessories include a light blue silk scarf as a headband and minimal jewelry
Bright white enamel 3-D flower shaped earrings and silver tone knot bracelet

White skimmer flats with bows on the toes
to complete the outfit

This outfit is also remixed  from earlier this season
I wore this pale aqua floral dress back in April, in a post about spring layers
The dress had a cardigan over it, for that wear
Today, I am wearing it by itself
to show off the pretty double ruffle flutter sleeves

The dress is a faux wrap, with a deep flouced hem
and matching sash belt-very girly!

For jewelry, I am wearing my silver tone bow necklace,
with vintage post earrings that have large rectangular aqua cut glass stones

This bracelet is very dear to me, it was a gift from my mother-in-law
She bought it on her post college graduation trip to Europe in the 1940's
The links are tiny little scenes of tourist attractions in Germany

Carrying my blush scalloped flap bag
with the ivory chiffon sash tie as a hair band

Nude ankle strap wedge heel sandals to finish the outfit

Summer 2019:
Flutter sleeves have been trending for a few years
This blouse is in a red and white fern print with cascading ruffled sleeves
It is part of a two piece skirt and blouse set,
I wore the skirt that goes with it in my 2019 flashback on last week's post

One of my favorite summertime treats-🍉

Hope everyone has a good week!

Colorful Flowing Midi Skirts for Summer

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Summer is mad for bright festive colors!
This week I am wearing two long, flowing and vibrantly colored midi skirts
One in a floral print, the other in a solid
Both of these outfits also feature something vintage,
as I am trying to incorporate more of the things that I save
for special occasions onto my everyday wardrobe

First, a breezy chiffon skirt in a vivid pink floral
I paired it with a sweet ivory colored blouse from the 80's
The blouse has an interesting yolk that reminds me a little bit of a cape
fluttery cap sleeves and a subtle tone on tone abstract print

Tiny blossoms all over the skirt

More bright color in a deep pink chain handle bag with stylized bow

Wearing a mixture of vintage and new jewelry
The pink bead and faux pearl wrap bracelet is from the 1940's
and the gold tone daisy shaped earring are current

Deep pink pointed toe reptile embossed slides with bow trim
to finish this girly look

My next outfit features a long, full midi skirt that has become a favorite of mine
I love this bright shade of blue for all seasons
The skirt also has a much sot after detail-roomy pockets!
It is very versatile, and I have worn it several times in different ways on the blog
Last December I wore it in a monochrome outfit with a top of the same bright blue,
and this April I paired it with a graphic print blouse
Here it is again for summer, with a short sleeve white lace blouse

I whole lot of bright blue!

I'm carrying a yellow vinyl box shaped handle bag from the 1960's
I can just picture a carefree 60's era teenaged girl
with this little bag swinging from her fingertips,
and wearing a wild psychedelic print mini dress with long flowing hair
I love to imagine the former lives of my vintage pieces-if only they could talk!

Other accessories include a large floral print scarf worn as a waist sash
It ties (a pun!) all of the solid blocks of color in this outfit together nicely

My silver tone jewelry includes a starfish collar necklace,
knot bracelet and shiny flower shaped stud earrings

These taupe block heels are comfortable and I choose them a lot
I think I might purchase them in a darker color for fall while the style is still available

More bright color in the summer flowers
These are called "Lipstick Pink" Impatiens

Hope everyone has a good week!

Independence Day Holiday

I hope everyone is having a Happy Independence Day holiday
and thanks for stopping by my blog!

For this patriotic holiday weekend I chose a bright blue and white gingham check blouse
It has a fun summertime picnic look and seemed perfect for the holiday
Worn with white high waisted straight leg rolled jeans

Carrying my round woven straw handle bag
with sea shell design-like a tiny picnic basket!

For accessories I chose some vintage things from the 80's
A green web belt with a cute navy and white print of spouting whales,
and a royal blue rope necklace with a large green plastic bead
Also wearing a modern silver tone knot bracelet

Tan low stacked heel ankle strap sandals to finish the look

Another festive casual outfit in celebration of this patriotic holiday!
Red and white striped top with a graphic print of a bicycle
Worn with medium wash high waisted flare jeans
for a bit of a vintage 70's look this time

Wearing summertime accessories including
silver tone star shaped earrings and my double dolphin bracelet
I've been loving all types of headbands and hair scarves lately
and today am wearing a red wired crinkle fabric one

Carrying a cute 1950's/60's bag that I don't use often enough
It's a box bag with multi colored woven plastic strips anchored by beads

I have not worn these sandals all summer
Since platforms are back,
I pulled these red woven cork heel ones from the back of my closet
These jeans are long so I think I will be hemming them in the future!

Flashback to 4th of July, 2019

Some sweet holiday bakery treats to celebrate!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!
