Plaid-A fall favorite!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog 😊

Who doesn't love a good plaid for fall?
It's the quintessential seasonal pattern!

This week I've chosen two plaid pieces from my closet to style
The first outfit is fairly classic and a bit preppy,
since this is a look that is trending this fall

I'm wearing a royal blue, black and white plaid blazer
layered over a white scoop neck ribbed top
Paired with high waisted, straight leg denim jeans in a medium blue wash
It's such an all American look!

This light grey metallic satchel bag has been a long time favorite of mine
I wish I could snap my fingers and reproduce it in a rainbow of colors

I chose silver tone jewelry to match the bag's hardware
A grey leather and curved metal bar bracelet, dome stud earrings
and for a bit of fun, a whimsical necklace with an old fashioned camera charm

Snake print block heel mules to finish the look-
(I guess these skew a little off preppy)
White trainers 👟 maybe, if I wanted to be really authentic

I am feeling very nostalgic this week
I think the seasonal change does this to me every year!

I don't think I will ever wear these pieces mixed together this way again-
It comes across as kind of a 90's look, now that I see the photo

Isn't it funny how quickly checking your outfit in the mirror
is not the same as looking at a photo of yourself on the computer screen?

Wearing a camel tan bracelet sleeve blazer over an ivory V-neck bow blouse,
worn with a bold multi-colored plaid and pleated midi skirt

I guess maybe it's the proportions that give this outfit such a retro feel-
1990's was not really my intention

Mixing my decades all over the place with a 1950's red vintage bag

Gold tone oval chain link bracelet
and link drop chain earrings

Tan criss-cross ankle strap block heels to finish the look

A plaid from the past- November 2018
Well before the Covid disaster struck-
I wish I didn't know know now what I didn't know then

getting into the spirit of the season

Hope everyone has a good week!

Autumn Colors

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

It is not truly looking like fall where I live yet
We are having a lovely long Indian Summer this year!
But the days are growing shorter and the dropping temperatures are sure to follow
I've started to pack up my summer wardrobe and unpack for fall,
so it seems like a good time to style some traditional autumn looks,
even though the weather is not quite there yet

My first outfit features a light tan blazer with puffed sleeve caps
It is new, but cut in a semi fitted retro 70's style that I love
I paired the jacket with an olive pleated midi skirt

I'm acessorizing with a multicolor houndstooth check scarf
and an olive green reptile embossed belt

The scarf screams of the season, to me
It is a red, tan and olive print with an equestrian horse bit border

Bold silver tone jewelry seemed to fit the mood of the outfit,
so I chose a stacked look open cuff bracelet
and large 80's vintage abstract shaped earrings

Carrying an old favorite red square quilted bag
I usually carry it as a clutch, but it converts to a shoulder
or cross body bag with a chain strap tucked inside
Great for when both hands need to be free!

More old favorites, a well balanced and comfortable pair
of mid heel red patent leather pumps
these have been indispensable in my wardrobe for years

Teal is not the first color that probably comes to mind when you think of fall
but combined with brown, it's looking pretty seasonal 🍃
This teal V-neck cardigan with puffy sleeve caps has served me well
It is a versatile style, and wearable for three seasons,
but fall is my favorite time of year to wear it
Wore here with a brown sleeveless lightweight sweater underneath
and a brown midi skirt with a button front and flapped cargo hip pockets

For a bag, I chose a colorful clutch with an unusual square handle
to add interest to this basic color block look

More accessories to lean the outfit toward fall-
a plaid neck scarf and dark brown woven belt

For jewelry, a tortoiseshell expandable bracelet
and teal stone stud earrings

Low heel multi tone reptile embossed slides to finish the outfit

A flashback to fall, 2017
These fringed boots were a fun statement
but I'm not really a boot wearer, so they mostly gathered dust in my closet
I sold them on eBay to someone who was ecstatic to find them
I love it when that happens-they are now well loved and worn!

A bouquet of mums-the most traditional fall flower
in the colors of the season!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Summer whites

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

White and light colored clothing in lightweight fabrics
are perfect to wear during the hot and sticky days of summer
July and August are especially challenging months in my area
to pull off a cool, calm and collected look!
Temperatures are in the 90's with high humidity as well (wilt 😰)

Today I am showing two white and light  colored outfits
I have been wearing lately to beat the heat

My first outfit is all out white on white
The blouse is a snowy white short sleeve peplum style, with a sort of hybrid faux wrap front
The two front ties are decorative, with buttons doing the actually fastening
Worn with a summer favorite-white ankle crop straight leg denim jeans

Cool as a cucumber, but I haven't left the air conditioned house, yet!

For jewelry I chose a statement turquoise disc pendant necklace
to go with an aqua print headband to add a little color
Also accessorizing with a gold tone multi chain link and tassel bracelet, and large hoop earrings

Another circular motif in this look, is my round straw handle bag
with circular sea shell design

I call the color of these perforated stacked heel slides metallic Gilver,
because the color is somewhere between gold and silver
In the photo, the color skews a little more toward gold

Next is a another very cool and comfortable outfit to wear at this time of year
The blouse is whisper thin white cotton batiste
with a pretty pin tucked front and scalloped eyelet sleeve caps
I paired the blouse with a vertical watercolor stripe print midi skirt
in peach, tan and white. All great summer colors!
The skirt is high waisted, in a linen blend with a wide matching sash belt

I chose my brass tone reticulated butterfly necklace
to fill the wide U shaped neckline of this blouse
I think I will go with something lighter and daintier looking next time-
Live and learn!
Other jewelry is a gold tone oval link bracelet and small hoop earrings

Carrying a favorite peachy-pink heart shaped bag

Nude ankle strap sandals to finish the outfit

Here's an outfit from two years ago, in mid-August 2019
It looks like I was coping with humidity-hair
with the same wide white headband as in the outfit above!

Some white flowers of summer 🌸
Petunias are so pretty and hardy-they can thrive in the heat
and do well in cooler spring and fall temperatures, too
I love that they have such a long blooming season!

more pretty white summer blooms

I am taking a short blogging break next week
and will be back to posting on August 29-
see you then!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Easter is on the way!

Happy Easter to everyone, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Easter is traditionally a time to dress up in our prettiest spring outfits
as we look forward to the glories of the season, and warmer weather
This year, as last year, our family will be continuing the new tradition
of spending Easter quietly at home with only our phones and computers to connect us
(I'm hoping for my shot in the arm soon)
In spite of the continuing distance requirements,
some cheerful Easter finery is definitely in order!

My first outfit this week is a kaleidoscope of springtime color
The skirt is a lively multi-color circle design
that I've had for years, and it never fails to put a smile on my face-
it's a keeper!
Wearing the festive skirt with a semi sheer ivory tie neck blouse

Using a long aqua scarf tied in the back as a sash belt

I have had a lot of fun experimenting with my scarves lately-
wearing them different ways like as tie belts, in my hair and of course around my neck
I have recently seen bracelets designed with mini scarves tied in bows as part of the design-
Right up my alley!

Wearing a silver tone bow necklace and turquoise stone stud earrings for jewelry

Carrying a much loved fuchsia convertible clutch
to add another pop of color!

I chose distressed silver low heel sling backs to complete this look

Another holiday outfit with only a touch of soft pastel color, but a lot of texture
It's a white sleeveless dress with beautiful scrolled design cutwork
worn over a white blouse with sheer lace short sleeves

Another scarf as a sash belt, this time tied in a bow

It is vintage in the prettiest warm peach and blue tone print

For jewelry, a silver tone open cuff bracelet and ornate drop earrings

Carrying a pale blush faux suede scallop trimmed clutch bag,

and nude color low heel tie pumps to finish the outfit

Flashback to Easter 2018, in a lilac cardigan over a floral dress
Coincidentally, wearing the same shoes and bag as this year!

Some cute and sweet Easter treats-
Hope the Easter Bunny is good to you!

What's blooming now- all the yellow and purples!

And hope everyone enjoys the week!
