Still in love with ruffles

I have really been loving ruffles lately and my ruffly separates
have been in heavy rotation.

This first outfit is the ruffly-ist!
Ruffles on to blouse, ruffles on the skirt and ruffles on the bag
I think this is the most ruffles I have ever worn at once
I don't think I would try this in any colors but neutrals

Here are the accessories
The bag is convertible, and has handles that can be tucked inside. The ruffles are zippers
I added a red belt for some color, and vintage 80's Givenchy silver tone clip earrings
I had no idea the earring were designer when I bought them, I just liked them
I discovered the designer's stamp after I got them home from a consignment shop

Red suede ankle straps with bows, to finish

More ruffles and bows in this next outfit.
Pale pink tie waist blouse with baby blue tiered skirt

I wanted to work these pearls into an outfit for the holidays,
but I think this outfit probably would have been better without them.
I'll try again with pearls, they are such a beautiful and unique design

Shimmery sandals with sweet little bows on the straps,
and a white vintage beaded clutch to complete the look

This last outfit is more casual, with a western spin!
Green ruffled cold shoulder sweater with a denim pencil skirt

Western detail leather belt with silver tone star earrings
and an animal print clutch

Brown ankle booties to finish

I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday season!

Mad about plaid!

I love a good plaid, even more so during the fall and winter,
and of course, for the holiday season!

This first outfit is built around the subtle toned suiting plaid on the
asymmetrical faux wrap skirt.  I choose a dark red shirt to go with it this time,
 to add a festive touch!

Accessorized with my 1960's multi color striped reptile embossed clutch
and bold geometric shaped silver toned jewelry

Pointed toe black tassel loafers to finish

For this next outfit, a windowpane plaid top in tan, black and red
 with sparkly lame threads
Worn with a full black midi skirt

I'm a fan of red accessories all year round, but with this outfit
the red quilted clutch adds a Christmas touch.
Gold tone and black enamel jewelry,

finished off with black ankle strap pumps with gold stripes

Lastly, plaid all over!
Black and white plaid shift dress, decorated with black lace and fringe

I gave the whole outfit a 60's spin, with my 60's vintage red handle bag
Simple gold tone jewelry,

and black square toed block heel pumps to finish

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!

Festive Christmas table setting

I love to dress up the dining table for meals, especially at the holidays
This Christmas I have two ideas brewing for table decor, both involving red plaid and Santa!

I bought the adorable smiling Santa plates at Target,

and used large festive red and green plaid napkins as placemats
They add a lot of color and holiday cheer!

For a centerpiece, I used a hand carved wooden bowl full of fruit,
and decorated it with holly and berries from a hedge in our garden
The little red deer is from the 1950's.  Where would Santa be without his Reindeer?

The other idea I have, is to use essentially the same place setting,
but with a red plaid tablecloth as a background

This time, I thought I'd try a small and simple centerpiece,
since the tablecloth is very colorful and busy!

The winking Santa pitcher is from the 1960's

I have treasured these cute vintage Christmas decorative pieces for years,
and delight to unbox them each Christmas
These whimsical mid-century "Santa goes down the chimney"
printed tumblers are favorites of mine!

Santa's elf taking a much needed break at the amazingly decked out garden center
I hope all of your holiday preparations are going smoothly!

Bell sleeves for fall

The bell sleeve trend is still on for fall and winter
At the end of the summer season, I was curious to see if this style
would continue to be popular, as it is a little tricky to layer.
The cold shoulder top is also a cold weather conundrum!
I wondered what would become of it at the onset of the colder months,
but it has adapted, and cleverly morphed into a sweater

Anyway, the first dress I'm wearing has sheer bell sleeves with bows at the elbow
Fine for fall, but I will probably be putting this one away soon

The thing I like best about this dress by Lauren Conrad
is the magical unicorn and garden print

Worn with a tan faux woven box clutch, large gold tone hummingbird pendant
and gold tone hammered stud earrings

Metallic bronze T-straps to finish the look

Next, is an ivory lace blouse with a gentle bell sleeve, worn over a matching camisole
I wore olive and ivory mini check cropped trousers with it

A pink, wine and sand color block top handle bag with gold tone 1960's vintage
reticulated leaf pendant and gold tone front to back geometric earings

Wine strappy sandals to complete the look

This moth print blouse from Top Shop has big floppy bows above the elbows,
I love my bows!
Worn with a canvas colored flared midi skirt

Metallic pewter kitty ear bag, and pale blue flower shaped earrings

Pewter peep toes with gold block heels

I think it is about time for me to put away my sandals until spring,
the temperatures are slowly becoming too chilly for open toes,
and we had our first snow this weekend!

Things leaving my closet this fall

I have been adding to this post for several months now, since the end of summer!
The garments are a mixed bag of seasons, with some of the items edited
even before I switched to my fall and winter wardrobe
I plan to continue to edit with a vengeance in 2018,
and wear or recycle all those things resting peacefully in the back of my closet,
not getting any love.  I have been holding onto a lot over the past several years
I have a new mind set now, and really want to circulate the things that I no longer wear
I have started a Poshmark closet, and opened an account with a consignment shop
for motivation, and of course I will be donating to charity, as well

These first two skirts are vintage, and though they are pretty outstanding
I don't wear them, often and I they deserve to be seen!

1970's wrap with a block print forest scene

Amazing hand painted and embroidered maxi wrap

A colorful maxi I don't wear,

and a denim skirt that is too snug

I have enjoyed wearing these next three dresses but they are not the most flattering
on me,  so on to someone who will rock them!

I edited out a lot of tops and blouses mostly because I pass them over for ones I like better,
feel more comfortable in, and fit better

Boxy tops are hard for me to wear

and I rarely wear collared shirts

These are all nice and versatile prints, I'm just tired mixing the matching them!

I rarely wear long tops or tunics these days

I recently wore this lightweight sweater for the last time on the blog

This sweater already has a new home-
it is a fun layering piece under a vest

This is a beautiful color, but another rarely worn tunic length

This is cute for someone who wears the boxy look well

That's all for now, a pretty major cut for me
Starting in January I will be remixing from the back of my closet like crazy!
