Faux suede vest three ways

This grey faux suede moto inspired vest has been very useful this fall and winter season.
It has helped me remix and change up other items in my closet.

In this first outfit, the vest is partially zipped up and worn belted
over a geometric print sheath dress.

Accessorized with a bright pink bag, embossed belt and minimalist silver tone jewelry.

Back in the fall, I wore the vest with mixed black and white patterned separates underneath.

Short, low heeled booties for all day walking comfort.
A red clutch and hand crafted red heart earrings for a pop of color,
and finished with a leather and silver tone cuff bracelet.

This day I am overdue for a haircut!
Wearing the vest open over a pink v-neck pullover and a vintage denim straight skirt.

Metallic silver bag, with navy suede booties and a second vintage piece,
a 60's pewter cat pendant.

Happy Monday to all!

Closet edit

This is a bit of a mish-mash of clothing I am evicting from my closet.
It's that time of year when I look at the garments that have not been worn this season
or have only been worn once, in an effort to decide if they should stay or go.
Here's what I've decided to purge, for now.

Michael Kors zebra print drape neck top.
This necklace really doesn't work well for me.

Bronze metallic skirt that I thrifted two years ago.  I wore it twice,
one time for the party I had it in mind for, so not too bad.

Silk leaf print skirt. It's hard for me to part with skirts, and I love the tie waist,
the colors just don't play well with the rest of my wardrobe, and it gets passed over a lot.

I wore this mini dress once with leggings and once with a long topper
to disguise the fact that it's just too short for me.
Love the color, but bye-bye.

I've had this dress in my wardrobe for many years, and have gotten a lot of wear from it.
I'm just tired of it, and draped necklines are challenging for me.

I like the idea of this short sleeve sweater, but jeans are the only thing in my closet
that it seems to look right with, so it's not likely to get much wear.
Time to pass it on to someone who loves it.

This is cute, I think, but it hits me at an unflattering length, and looks funny tucked in.

This cropped sweater hits me at the wrong place, too.
It would be great on someone who is longer waisted.

Another sweater I have only worn a couple of times in 4 or 5 years.
It looks good on the hanger, but is just not right for my body.

I have another red vest in a more feminine cut, so I don't need two.

That's it for now.
Thank you Lorena, for your inspiration to help me keep going on the continuing
project of closet editing!

Sweater dressing

Even though my heart has fast forwarded to spring, the reality is, it's still winter.
I've been wearing my cozy sweater dresses, probably for the last time this season.
While putting this post together, I realized on all three of these looks,
I wore two sweater knits it one outfit!

The first outfit is a pale grey sweater dress that has the look of a long tunic with a short flouncy skirt underneath.  On top, I have layered a muted tone striped cardigan.

Getting a little springy with my colors, though, with pink suede lace up heels,
a pink stone and leather bracelet, and oxidized silver tone feather necklace.

The next outfit consists of a burgundy cable knit sweater dress,
with a long lightweight camel sweater vest belted over it.

Worn with wine ankle strap heels
and a scarf in a dot print of browns and tans.

A herringbone check bag, braided leather belt, and a 1950's gold tone cuff
makes this a very accessorized outfit, for me!

Getting into some lighter spring colors with  a grey and white
patterned sweater dress, and a blush pink V neck pullover sweater on top.

Silver tone 3-D geometric clutch, pink bumble bee brooch,
and silver tone square earrings, to finish the look.

This winter has seemed to fly by,
and I can't wait to start packing up my winter things
and unboxing my spring wardrobe!

Transitioning to spring thrift shopping

There were some really cute spring and summer dresses at the thrift shop this week.
Although it's still winter, I don't want to look at any more woolies!
I've set my shopping sights on the coming of spring.
I'm day dreaming about pretty lightweight
and colorful dresses, and the weather to go with them!

Outside, however, it's 35 degrees with gusty 20mph winds,
so I'm still very much dressing for winter, in a cozy grey sweater and long black pants.

I'm trying to inject a little spring color, though,
with a large floral scarf in shades of blue

and matchy blue accessories.

Here are some more of the sweet dresses I found this week at the thrift shop.

White eyelet

Bright pink lace

Turquoise with white embroidery

And a creamy linen shirtdress.

Also, some nice transitional shirts and blouses.

This floral button up is full of Greenery!

More Greenery, in an abstract fern print blouse

Pastel peach stripes

Bow blouse of ivory with a black circle print

Pretty feminine lace topper

Black lace camisole

Mint and grey dot print cap sleeve blouse

Pale pink lightweight wrap sweater

And, an olive knife pleat midi skirt.
When I got home, a realized I have several tops that would go well with this.
I should have bought it.  Oh, well.

That's it for this week.  Happy thrifting!

Happy Valentine's Week

For Valentine's week, lots of hearts, red and pink!

First, a navy pullover with a big red intarsia heart
with red denim that I don't think I've worn since Valentine's week, last year.

Worn with black cross strap heels and a black chain strap bag
and simple gold tone jewelry.

Next, red and pink together.  Red blazer over printed floral sheath dress.

Black and gold accessories, again,
because there's a lot of color going on, already!

This dress is so beautifully cut, I wore it alone,
in all of it's Pantone Pink Yarrow brilliance!

Gold tone linked hearts necklace is Valentine's week perfect
with gold tone cuff bracelet.

Navy blue kitten heel slingback pumps, with a berry and navy mini bucket bag
(that didn't make it into the photo).

Happy Valentine's Day!
Valentine's week (and every week) is the perfect time to treat those you love
and to spread loving kindness to all.

Pretty spring florals at Nordstrom Rack

It looks like everything's coming up floral for spring, as usual!

On a recent trip to Nordstrom Rack I saw gorgeous floral prints in all sizes and colors.

Love this sheath dress with extra large multi colored pastel blooms

and this fit and flare dress with large abstract flowers in peach tones.

Here's a sweet Topshop dress with medium size sprays of roses and greenery
 on a blush pink background.

Cute ruffled sleeve caps on this tiny ditzy floral print on a shirt dress style.

Also in abundance were asymmetrical flounces

and ruffles

and I'm glad to see lace is still trending this spring.

Last year's Blush was kind to my complexion,
but this year's Pale Dogwood seems to be a wash-out
for me, anyway.

Fabulous sleeves were everywhere!
Here's a pretty bell sleeve blouse.

I also stopped by the Zara sale, and am loving these blouses
with feminine sleeve detail, on sale for $12.99.

Lots of pretty things to chose from!
