Classic Combination-Pullover plus Denim Skirt

Hello, and welcome to my blog-thanks for stopping by!

It is the middle of February 📆 already

I am glad February is the shortest month of the year,
especially now that the Valentine's Day
festivities are in the rear view window
Here in Maryland, as in much of the northern hemisphere,
February is one of coldest months of the year,
and, of course the last full month of winter!
By the end of the month, which is coming very soon,
there will be a few small signs of spring. Hooray!
I am not thinking about packing up
 my winter woollies yet,
with the high temperature
reaching all the way down to the 20's at night,
but I am thinking about what to wear
during the tricky bridge months ahead
  Punxsutawney Phil has predicted
six more weeks of winter weather,
but the groundhog seems to be wrong
more often than right,
so I hope he misses this year!

For now a lot of us, including me,
 are pulling out and wearing
the pieces in our winter wardrobe
that have been neglected all season
It's time to assess why!
Also, I am getting one last wear in
on the winter pieces I like most,
before putting them away for the spring season
How about you,
are you looking forward to spring, yet?

 Today I am wearing a V-neck,
 forest green cable knit sweater
 that doesn't get much wear,
with a trusty denim skirt that does
The skirt is an all season mid-wash,
 with functional front flap pockets
I will definitely be keeping it out for the spring-
love the versatility of denim!

Carrying my mini bucket bag in two-tone, black and tan
I guess this little bag can be considered
 an often worn favorite,
especially since the black and tan slides
that match it so well
have come into my closet!

I chose some toned down, gold jewelry pieces
 to complement this casual outfit
A wrap bracelet, in a burnished yellow
 and rose gold combination,
 a vintage reticulated leaf pendant,
and large hoop earrings

My black and tan Mary Jane slides to finish the look

I thought this denim skirt was so cute,
worn back in spring, 2020
Maybe you remember when patchwork was trending!
This skirt didn't stay very long in my closet,
because once out of the dressing room
 and worn in public,
I felt self conscious-too short for me!
I think the A-line silhouette
makes it look even shorter
I consigned the skirt in 2021, soon after this wearing
It is such a fun design-I hope the new owner is loving it!

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Happy Valentine's Week! ❤️

Hello, thanks for joining me today!

With Valentine's Day coming up,
I thought it would be the perfect time
to go for "a little extra",
 and mix pink and red(ish),
in the form of burgundy, in the same outfit
I am wearing a confectionery pink cardigan
over a white ruffle front blouse,
with a long satin, midi length slip skirt, in burgundy
Do you enjoy dressing to theme?
I think it is fun!

Burgundy belt, too

Here is Roger with me today
in a candy pink button down shirt
and black trousers

Some sweet accessories for this outfit
are a white 1950s vintage beaded clutch bag
with a scalloped fold over flap
The details of the fine craftsmanship
of the past are so beautiful

I tied a pink and yellow silk conversation heart
print scarf in my hair 🩷 💛

Some fancy bobbles for the holiday
A silver tone wrap bracelet, decorated all around with orbs,
and ornate drop earrings
Also, a vintage brooch from the 1950s
It is a valentine heart and arrow
 made of red rhinestones

I pulled these dark red patent leather
t-straps out of my closet
I have had these for a long time,
but haven't worn them lately at all
Until now that is, as t-straps
have come back in fashion
I am glad I didn't Marie Kondo them!

Hope you all have a good week,
 and a Happy Valentine's Day!

Burgundy for a Wintery Day

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Burgundy is such a trending color now,
so I thought I would have a rummage in my closet
to see if I could come up with another outfit
using pieces I already have in my wardrobe,
but haven't worn much this fall and winter season

This outfit is a little different for me
I have had the long burgundy cardigan sweater for years,
 but rarely wear it, now.
I wore it quite a bit during it's first few seasons in my closet,
when the long duster cardigan had just come into fashion
It is a comfortable and cozy ribbed knit,
but I hadn't given it much thought, until recently
I moved it from the bottom of my sweater drawer
earlier this fall, when I pulled out all of my burgundy items
from previous seasons to see how I could re-style them
I think it's time to give this sweater a fresh look
The burgundy cardigan happens to match, almost perfectly
with this pair of straight leg trousers
that were added to my wardrobe last year
For a little fun, I decided to pair
these two burgundy pieces with a gray tee shirt
that has a beaded graphic of two dogs
 facing one another on it
Are you a fan of the color burgundy?
It is one of those colors that is a staple for me,
so I already have quite a few pieces
in my closet to work with

Carrying my black and white striped handle bag,
to lighten the look

 Accessorizing with an ultra long,
black and white polka dot scarf
and silver tone jewelry
A grey leather and metal bar bracelet,
and textured hoop earrings

Black suede tuxedo bow
low block heels to finish the look

A  burgundy and red floral print blazer
from the past, Autumn 2019

Hope you all enjoy your week!

Crochet Dress Winterized

Hello, and welcome to my blog

So happy you stopped by today!

Crocheted clothing has been wildly popular
 over the past few years
It is a trend that pops up every year, for summer,
but over the past few years it's popularity
has morphed into many styles for all seasons
I don't have a lot of crocheted items in my closet
How about you?
I thought it would be nice
for this post to highlight one of my few crochet pieces
worn in a new way
I usually wear this dress during the summer
but it can be made appropriate
for any season with a little creative layering
The dress has a camisole style bodice,
with shoulder tie spaghetti straps
In spring and summer it can be worn alone
or with a tee or blouse worn under
Usually I would pack this type of dress
away for the fall and winter season
This year I left it out
to play with the idea of possibly winterizing it
I decided to try it with a rosy-mauve blazer
 layered over it
The dress is a tight and thick crochet knit,
and is lined as well, so I am plenty warm
I like bringing in some light color in winter,
as the color palette tends toward dark

The row of buttons down the front of the dress
are decorative and don't actually function

Carrying a small satchel style handle bag
in a taupe reptile print with horse bit detail

This recently purchased silk square scarf
 ties the two solid colors
of the dress and jacket together very nicely, I think
I purchased the scarf online to go with another outfit,
only to find the colors do not work with it
The hues are very soft and pretty though,
and I am glad to find other items in my closet
I can wear it with

I chose gold tone jewelry to complement this outfit
 An open tubular cuff bracelet,
and a pair of 1960s vintage leaf motif clip on earrings
The piercing on one of my ears has become problematic,
and I have difficulty wearing most fishhook earrings
I might try piercing it one more time,
as I have a lot of nice fishhook earrings
languishing in my jewelry box
I would love to be able to wear them, again
I have had this piercing done twice,
but for some reason it does not want to stay pierced!
I have found stud styles easier to wear
and also, clip-ons have become my new friend for now

A few more accessories-
a dusty mauve colored suede hairband
 and a dark taupe belt
Keeping it pretty neutral today!

Comfortable low tan suede block heel pumps
 to finish the outfit

Here is one of the few
other crochet items in my closet
It is a white camisole style vest,
with red hibiscus flowers embroidered on it
Worn in this photo during the summer of 2022
layered over a dress

Hope everyone enjoys their day
 and the week ahead!

Bold Kimono Wrap Top for Winter Color

Hello and welcome!
So glad you stopped by my blog today

On a gray January day,
I decided to be bold and try a style
that I rarely ever wear-the kimono

Kimonos of all types
 have been enjoying great popularity
for the past decade-that is some staying power!
Many women love the exquisite detailing
and endless versatility of this type of garment
How about you, are you a kimono girl?
From what I understand,
kimonos are not nearly as accessible to purchase,
nor as popular in the UK and Western Europe
Has anyone across the pond noticed that?
Kimonos are really always in fashion
because they are a key component in the wardrobe
of women with a boho or dramatic aesthetic
I have seen some very beautiful kimonos
Some hand dyed in the most fabulous luxurious fabrics,
and in many colors, patterns and textures
 Many feature amazing details
 like intricate lace and embroidery
Kimono's almost always have dropped or dolman sleeves,
which is the reason I don't usually wear this style
It is a difficult one for me since I have narrow shoulders,
but I admired them so much on other women

I decided to give this one a try
because of the distracting and camouflaging print
I love the colorful, oversize graphic design,
and the contrasting border print on the sleeves and hem
Also, it has a wrap tie waist to give it shape
Wearing this special kimono top
with a black wool knit midi skirt

The sleeves!

All of my accessories are bold,
to hold there own with the kimono print and style
Carrying my bright royal blue convertible clutch
with the cross body chain strap tucked inside

I chose a three strand bracelet of black and gray faux pearls
and am wearing large, vintage 1950s
silver tone wreath or starburst earrings

 Gray fabric pointed toe mules
with wide straps and buckle detail to finish the outfit

Roger is joining me today,
and chose a bright royal blue button down
 and black trousers-
it's fun that he enjoys matching my outfit when possible

A bright blue, black and white outfit from the past-
winter 2021
The bright blue rib knit cardigan is from the early aughts

Hope you all enjoy your week!

Windowpane Check Jacket in Winter

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog!

It's the middle of winter and cold, colder or coldest
almost everywhere in the northern hemisphere
Lucky you, if you are basking in the sun
in a warm climate, right now!
Are you a lover of cold weather?
I know some people are,
and a ski vacation just about now sounds great⛷!
I think I would rather linger by the fire

So this week I thought I would style
a favorite formula of mine for the season,
a jacket over a dress
Wearing a plum colored A-line dress and an ivory and grey windowpane check blazer, both in winter weights

Yesterday I was fastinated by a YouTube video
about the various micro trends that have sprung up recently
 A style called office core,
or corpcore is one of them
It seems my favorite classic style
 happens to be trending now!

Carrying a much loved vintage 1960s black leather bag
I love the minimalist style and curved handles

A few simple accessories and jewelry with this look
A black braided hair band, silver tone teardrop earrings,
and a wide vintage 1950s silver tone
 expandable cuff bracelet

A little bright color is needed!
I chose a tassel motive printed scarf around my neck,
in shades of pink, plum and light blue

Black suede block heel sling backs to finish the outfit
I will not be walking far outside in these today-cold feet!

Here is a similar outfit from January, 2020
A jacket over a dress is a go to option for me

Stay warm whatever your style,
and hope you enjoy your week!
