Denim for All Seasons

Hello, welcome, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

I know a lot of you and are thinking
about your fall and winter wardrobe, just now
It's the time of year for assessing
what we have in ours closets,
deciding what holes need to be filled,
and what purchases to make for the upcoming season
Throughout the month of September,
 I having been offering ideas
for dressing during this transitional in-between time,
when many of us have one foot in summer
 and one foot in fall
I have one more idea for you-Denim!
It is the perfect solution for this time of year
Lighter weights and lighter washes
are great those of you who are
still experiencing warm weather,
and heavier weights and darker washes
 for those in cooler climates
I love denim, I think it is
a truly a wonderful, versatile textile
How about you, are you a denim fan?

Today I am walking the summer to fall line
in a medium wash denim skirt
This wrap style, knee length skirt has I nice detail,
a side tie at the hip
Naturally, I tied it in a big bow, 🎀
but it could also be tied it in a knot with streamers
I wore the skirt today with a classic style western shirt,
in mostly magenta with a little navy blue in the plaid
It has faux pearl snaps and the sleeves have roll tabs,
so the shirt can you worn with the long sleeves
 rolled up or down

I went with some darker accessories
in keeping with the coming fall season
Carrying a cognac color bag in a tulip shape
 in vegan leather and suede

For jewelry, I chose a wide multi-band silver tone cuff bracelet,
  vintage oxidized silver chain necklace,
and magenta irregular shape stone earrings

Suede woven cognac color block heel slides
 to finish the outfit

Here's an outfit making the transition
from summer to autumn with denim,
from this time two years ago, September 2022
Wearing a multicolored crochet vest
over a white shirt with my denim, here
Nice to see the crochet trend
   is still going strong today!

Thanks for joining me,
and I hope you have a great week!

Autumn-ize a Summer Dress

Hello and welcome,
thanks for visiting my blog!

This week I am styling a dress
that I thought would work well for the transition into autumn
 By adding some seasonal accessories,
the dress, which is a long sleeve ivory faux wrap midi,
fills the summer to fall gap nicely
The colors in the floral spray print are the fall shades
of forest green and rusty orange
I am wearing it here layered over a teal green tank top
This dress was sold a few years ago
during the spring and summer
It is lightweight, and would suit those seasons,
but the colors in the floral print
made it a bit of a styling conundrum for me,
so I decided to give it a try
as a transitional piece

Here is a look at the darker accessories I chose for fall
For a bag, I picked this round teal green one
with buckle detail on the handle

For jewelry, I decided on some warm, bronze tones
A DIY rhinestone decorated leaf necklace,
a brass and hematite vintage cuff bracelet
and sparkly pave leaf shaped stud earrings

A few more accessories to make the outfit feel seasonal-
a wide teal corduroy twist knot headband
and a tan faux suede sash belt

Loafers always give me a fall vibe
Especially in tans and browns
These are a tassel style with a stacked wooden heel

If you enjoy seasonal color analysis,
Roger is a summer and I am a winter
Although neither of us stick strictly to following the system,
we do both have mostly cool colors in our wardrobes
For autumn our go-tos are mostly jewel tones
I was surprised when Roger pulled out of his collection
a necktie that matched the colors of the print in my dress

A very kind friend who visited Australia
brought this Aussie kangaroo and koala bear
tie back for Roger as a gift
It goes perfectly with my outfit!

Last of the summer flowers-
these trailing petunias have been a joy to watch bloom
 all summer into early fall

Hope you all have a great week!

Slow Transition into Autumn

Hello, welcome all, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Autumn is not fully in the air,
in my part of the country, yet
It will probably be a good 6 weeks
before I switch to my fall and winter wardrobe,
in earnest
September and October are lovely months,
weather-wise where I live on the coast of Maryland
I am starting to get creative with the transition
 season with some layering,
and going a little bit darker with my accessories,
but certainly not full on fall yet!
How about you?
Are you ready for fall, or holding on
to the last vestiges of summer?

Today, I am wearing a bright, royal blue shirt dress
with a multicolored ditzy floral tank top
   belted on top

Roger is joining me this week

The blues and reds in his necktie match my outfit

I chose some of my go-to classic
gold tone jewelry for this outfit
A pair of chain design hoop earrings,
a hinged knot bracelet,
and my chunky chain initial necklace

More accessories!
Pictured are the wide red woven belt
I am wearing, and the fancy starburst
 crochet headband in my hair

For a bag I chose an old favorite-
a dark red quilted square shape one, with chain a strap

Dark red low wedge heel sling backs
 to finish this transitional look

If this dress looks familiar, I wore it styled differently
on the blog last September,
in a post titled "Transitioning in Shirt Dresses"
This style of dress is so versatile
this one is a great transitioning piece for summer to fall,
as well as winter to spring

Late summer and early fall bloomers-
long legged spider mums!

I hope you all have a great week!

Some Autumn Texture-Green Faux Suede

Hello, and welcome!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today
Autumn is on the way, but I am no where near ready for it
The weather is just gorgeous-
September is the most beautiful month of the year here, weather wise. The humidity has dropped significantly,
but the temperature range is still summer-like

For today's post I chose a dress that signals a transition
in the seasons is on it's way,
with the color and texture of the fabric
Forest green is traditionally a cool weather color,
and ultra suede, or faux suede fabric is also most popular
during the fall and winter months
This dress fits the bill for transitioning for me,
 as it has short sleeves
and is in a lightweight version of faux suede
I love the comfortable slightly fitted A-line shape
The dress has a half zip up the front
with the big round ring zipper pull
These details give it such a strong retro 60's look!

Carrying a favorite black and white striped handle bag
I keep this bag out all year long,
neutral stripes seem appropriate for any season!

Starting to get out some chunky jewelry
 for the seasonal change
I picked out a gold tone wide buckle motif cuff,
and substantial vintage dome tear drop clip on earrings

Wearing a fun, small silk black and white scarf around my neck
that is printed in a pattern of multi size of polkadots

For shoes, I chose these black double strap
 suede Maryjanes with block heels-
they seem the perfect complement for a 60s style dress
and are so on trend for fall

Does anyone remember the collaboration
between Victoria Beckham and Target
Back in the spring of 2017?
The whole collection had a retro 60s vibe-
this floral appliqué A-line dress is from that collection

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!

Crayola Crayon Box Outfit

Hello, welcome to my blog,
and thanks so much for stopping by today
Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!

In keeping with another tradition,
today the grocery store started to roll out
all of the foods containing pumpkin
Pumpkin spice cookies went right into my cart,
the first of many yummy pumpkin items for fall!

Lots of bright color today,
(nothing new or novel there)-but what will it be?
 Oh the indecision...so many possibilities
Red, blue, green?...how about all three!
I think I'll just call this my Crayola crayon outfit
and look like a walking box of crayons today,
in honor of the back-to-school season!

This is truly a classic outfit
but I added my stamp to it,
by ramping it up with color, color and more color!
Wearing these pieces in the (not quite) fall for this post,
but they could pretty much be worn during any season,
 with a few little tweaks
I love mix and match pieces
they are such versatile wardrobe staples,
and are especially valuable for the bridge seasons
These items get a lot more wear in my wardrobe
than items that can only work for summer or winter

Wearing a lightweight royal blue blazer
 with all over embroidery
layered over a bright red sheath dress

Chatty post, this one
Did you know there are currently
  120 Crayola crayon colors?
This includes 23 shades of red,
20 shades of green and 19 shades of blue
That is a lot of choices,
truly a rendition for everybody!

Royal, Scarlet and Kelly

Adding a little splash of green
 with my embossed handle bag
and green belt (that got left out of this picture)

For jewelry, I chose a bold gold tone wrap bracelet
 and dome earrings
These chunky pieces have an eighties throwback feel,
that is so popular right now

Adding one of my favorite vintage Vera silk scarves
This one is a riot of shapes and colors,
in two shades of blue, plus green, red and mustard gold

For shoes I picked out patent, embossed
 red Maryjanes with chunky heels

Hope everyone has a bright and sunny week!
