In the Pink!

Hello, and as always,
thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

This week I decided on a gradual reduction
of the colors of Valentine's season❤️🩷
I could not bring myself to abruptly halt
the happy, uplifting pinks and reds,
just because Valentine's Day has past!

We still have the rest of the month of February
to slog through, after all, and I do mean slog
It is dark and dreary, and raining buckets now,
on top of the lingering ice crusted snow on the ground

Are you much affected by the weather?
I am already jumping to springtime,
if only in my head!

Today I chose this sweet candy pink cardigan,
mixed with neutrals to lift my spirits
Wearing a plain white collared shirt underneath the sweater,
with a subtle gray and ivory woven plaid
wrap midi skirt with side button closures

Carrying my dove gray quilted chain strap handle bag

I chose this very special necklace to wear today
It is a three strand necklace,
made of cylindrical Peruvian Mountain Opal stones
I purchased it from an artisan crafter
The square clip on earrings are silver tone with white centers,
which really don't show well in the picture, they look gray

The scarf in my hair is one of the most useful ones I have
I think it is because the mix of colors are so soft and vague
it seems to go with everything

Dark gray cross-strap block heels to finish the outfit

I wore this pink cardigan last February too,
for Valentine's Day
By chance, this outfit from one year ago
 is quite similar

With Roger, my Valentine 💝

Here I go with more items leaving my closet,
this project is coming to an end
The last few things this season are bags
This is a super small mini bag
I should have put something in this picture for scale
It can be worn crossbody or as a belt bag,
as you can see from the last photo
It is a rich brown leather and made by Coach,
so I know the right person at the consignment shop
will snap it right up
I have had it since 2014 and have used it off and on,
but not currently, as it is not even
big enough for a cell phone
It would be good for someone to use
to carry their cards and keys
who keeps their phone in hand,
or purely for decoration

Wearing it back in Autumn, 2021

Hope everyone has a great week to come!

Valentine's Day-Hearts and Flowers

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Valentine's Day is on the way,
so it seems the perfect time
to put together an outfit
with my red heart print skirt ❤️
right on theme for the holiday

I also worn this skirt styled differently,
on the blog for another holiday, last Memorial day,
pictured below

Paring the skirt with a sweet ivory scoop neck blouse,
with rows of lace and tiny pin tucks
down the front of the bodice
and the outside of the sleeves-so sweet!

The heart motif is one of my favorites,
and I wear hearts all year round
After all, love is not just for February
How about you-
are you a heart lover, or do you have a favorite motif?

A red bag looked a little too much,
so I went with my neutral light tan bucket bag
to compliment this outfit, and the shoes I chose

For jewelry I am wearing a gold tone bow bracelet,
my 1950's vintage leaf pattern collar necklace,
and handcrafted red heart post earrings

Also, pinned to my blouse
 is a Valentine's theme brooch
A vintage 1950's red heart
made of prong set red rhinestones

Neutral kitten heel sling backs, to match the bag
and finish this Valentine's Day look

💕🩷💝♥️💖💘

Hope you all have a wonderful week
and are able to spend some quality time with those you love!

Red for February

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog, today

And just like that-It's February, the month of love
Expect all the red and pink and heart motifs you can stand!
No surprises here ❣️

Although the weather is still very wintery,
it is nice to know that
the coldest weather is behind us-
and spring will shortly be on the way!

My outfit today is built around a wildly printed
 red and white peplum blouse
It is pretty loud, so I've paired it with neutral black
A black camisole underneath the blouse,
and a black knee length pencil skirt

Are you a fan of holiday theme dressing?

I have a lot of red in my closet,
and wear it all year round
But now, I am right in step with what's trending
with upcoming Valentine's Day
Red has been a dominant color this season,
so I am wearing all the red hues even more than usual!

Crazy geometric!

Accessorizing with a darling
 black and white houndstooth bag
It has curved top handles and an alternate
chain and faux leather detachable cross body strap
I like a small bag, but this one is extra small!
Measuring a handbag online can prove quite tricky,
since the inside useable space changes
with the arrangement of pockets, dividers and such
All of my essentials fit in this little bag-but just,
no room to spare!

For jewelry with this outfit I chose bold, gold tone pieces
to balance the extra large print of the blouse
Wearing an Egyptian style collar necklace,
  wide dome cuff bracelet,
and substantial, chunky square round hoop earrings

Cherry red Mary Jane sling backs with
kitten heels to finish the look

In keeping with the red tones of February,
for the item that left my closet this winter,
I chose to show a wine color skater jumper dress
It has gotten a lot of wear though the years
I have had it, and it is a favorite style of mine
It was a little big for me when I bought it,
as I had several sweaters planned
to style under it for winter
 I am moving it along,
I hope someone picks it up as a possible valentine's dress
It's full swishy skirt, would be perfect for a holiday dance💃

Concealing the fact that it is
a little too big for me under a blazer
I think this is the last time I wore it,
and I hope it finds a happy new home!

Hope everyone enjoys their week!
❤️💐💙🌼💘🌺💛🌹💜🌷💖

Cozy Winter White Ribbed Sweater Dress

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Oh my gosh, when I picked a winter white dress
for this week's post, I did not know
most of the country would be buried,
knee deep in the white stuff!
❄️🌨️❄️🌨️❄️
The possibility of some snow was vaguely being predicted,
but the totals just keep growing and growing!

Hope everyone is safe, we are far from dug out yet!

Sweater dresses have made quite a comeback this year,
along with knit pieces of all types-
I'm looking at you, classic crew neck
button down cardigan sweater!
These are everywhere in all the colors
 and prints imaginable this winter
Fashion has gotten really practical this season!

The dress I am wearing is a warm,
 hefty ribbed cotton knit,
long sleeved and ankle length
It's a comfortable dream to wear
in winter white with black stripes down the sides

 Speaking of white,
can you believe that Pantone chose white
 (Cloud Dancer)
as the color of the year for the first time ever, this year?
There is a lot of debate going on about this choice,
I will just say here that
it is said to indicate a fresh start
 and a shift towards peace,
I surely hope this is true

The dress is much like an elongated version
of a favorite, cosy pullover sweater

The stark black and white contrast of the dress
makes it the perfect backdrop for some bright pops of color

This is the brightest, most cheerful pink
handle bag I ever did see!
Roger picked this out for me,
he certainly knows what I like 🙂

For jewelry, I chose some bold structural pieces
 to complement the dress
All silver tone, a large orb on multiple chain necklace,
 a chunky dome bracelet,
and a pair of circle and sphere drop earrings

A few more punches of color in my accessories,
since the dress solid dress is such a good canvas to decorate!
A retro 90's bright pink belt with a bold silver tone buckle,
and a reversible geometric pink, purple and black
print scarf in my hair

I'm going to wear these shoes out this winter
I seem to choose them first over every other
pair of shoes in my closet, every time
They are black suede sling backs with a low block heel,
and are ever so comfortable
I have this shoe in embossed navy blue also,
if it looks familiar!
I will be trading these for snow boots
 for the foreseeable future!

Here is a sweater dress from a previous season,
back during the winter of 2019
It is a solid burgundy, a color that is back in style today
I think I will get it out for a restyle!

Hope everyone stays warm and has a good week!

Lightening up a Dark Outfit

Hello, and thanks for stopping by today!

During these coldest winter months,
I am wearing more layers for warmth, for sure
But also, I have been trying not to go too dark
 with my outfit colors
Winter is synonymous with darker hues,
and for the most part, the colors in the shops
tend to get a little gloomy
I have a lot of winter darks in my closet,
and am combing through for lighter colored items
to style them with them to lighten up the darks
and add some levity

How about you, is your closet full
of the dark colors of winter?

Over the past few years,
when shopping in brick and mortar stores,
and looking online, my eye has been drawn to lighter colors  and I have had this in mind
when making fall and winter purchases

I keep in mind what I have at home,
and this allows me to keep wearing those things
So today, part of my outfit is wintery-
maroon trousers and a maroon and ivory
 printed mock neck blouse
Lightening things up by combining these pieces
with an ivory boxy boucle cropped jacket

Possibly, it won't be long until the shops are full
of the lightest of light color, though
Since Pantone's unusual choice
of Color for the Year for 2026 was revealed as Cloud Dancer-
basically white. The absence of color. Pantone, what on earth?

Well, could this outfit idea
possibly be what Pantone had in mind?

I purchased this jacket back in spring, last year,
way before I heard anything about Cloud Dancer
As a matter of fact at the time, it was rumored
that a shade of teal would be the dominating color for 2026
Time will tell and we will see how this plays out!

Anyway, the jacket is collarless,
and has buttons down the front like a cardigan,
with two large flap chest pockets
I think it will work nicely for spring as well

Carrying a classic quilted chain strap bag in dove gray

Accessorizing with a floral velvet headband
in pink and wine shades, and a silver tone link bracelet
 with a rhinestone heart charm
For earrings, I chose a pair of 1960s clip on's
in a triangular shape of leaves

I chose black suede block heel sling backs,
 to finish the outfit
I wear these a lot, but change them for boots
or more practical shoes with backs, for out on the street
🥿 👟👢🥾

A jacket layer is a warm and stylish friend
 in the depths of January
Another white one, from the way back files,
January 2018
This jacket is gone from my wardrobe, and so are the shoes,
but the cardigan and skirt are still in my closet,
though they have been in and out
of the consignment bin numerous times!
Of course, I still have the red mod 60s bag,
you have seen it many times in my posts

Hope everyone stays warm and has a great week!

Red Rose Sweater Skirt

Hello, and thanks for joining me today!

According to the current weather forecasts,
it looks like much of the US is in for a very unusual
freeze and thaw pattern this year
The weather outside is cold and stormy,
as unusual for January in my part of the country
As a matter of fact, the wacky weather
is already happening here, with flood warnings from rain,
changing to snow predictions,
and then to high wind forecasts
A rollercoaster  of weather events, for sure!
 🎢 💨❄️🥶🌧️ 🎢
Seems like a good time to pull out
 and wear our warmest woolies,
and definitely time to pile on the layers!

Also, with the hike in the cost of electricity recently,
it is going to be a challenge to stay comfortable indoors,
with families lowering there thermostats to save money
I like to be warm, and to keep it pretty toasty
in the house during the winter if I can-
I will have to be extra creative
 about staying warm!

Are you one who loves the snow,
 and brisk winter weather?
Or would you rather cozy up by a roaring fire? 🙋‍♀️
Or maybe you live in the south and are spared!

Today, I am wearing a white long sleeve ribbed sweater,
with sweet black bow trim down the front,
  under a black wrap cardigan
I paired these layers with a cozy midi sweater skirt
in a red and black rose print

Floral clothing will have to do for now
but I cannot wait for to see red roses IRL
🌹🌹🌹🌹

To add a little more pattern to the mix,
I added a cheerful black and white
heart and polka dot print pleated fabric clutch bag

Gold tone jewelry for a little sparkle!
Accessorizing with a pair of bow stud earrings,
 a collar necklace,
and a chunky asymmetrical bangle bracelet

For shoes, black suede block heel sling backs-
I won't be hiking through the slush in these,
I have weatherproof boots for that!

Here is another outfit where I am dressed
 in cosy sweater knit layers
from January, five years ago, in 2021
A thick red ribbed open cardigan over an ivory
 cashmere sweater tee
Worn with a red thick jersey knit skirt
This outfit is a similar color pattern
as the one from this year
Must fortify myself against January weather,
 no matter what the year!

Hope you all stay warm and toasty
or alternatively, enjoy all of the winter outdoor sports,
if you are so inclined
Either way, have a good week!
