Hello, welcome to my blog,
and thanks for stopping by!
Today, I am giving monochrome dressing a whirl,
with items from my closet
that I have not previously worn together
A monochrome look is timeless and always popular,
but this look is really trending, now
I am seeing lots of separates being worn together
in different tones of the same color,
as well as pieces in the same color
with lots of fun and interesting textural details
When I think of monochrome dressing,
British royalty comes to mind
Princess Catherine frequently dresses all in one solid color,
and always looks very chic and sophisticated
Her looks seem effortless,
with a quality of simplicity, which is lovely
I find it is not really effortless to create the look
with separates, but I am going to give it a try
How about you, are you a fan of monochrome dressing?
I have chosen two shades of coral for this outfit
My scoop neck three-quarter sleeve blouse
is a darker shade with a matte texture finish
The skirt is a lighter shade of coral
in a silky texture that has more of a sheen
I used different tones
of the neutral color taupe for my accessories
to and a little contrast

Carrying a small embossed satchel bag
with horse bit detail
I chose some simple gold tone jewelry pieces
for this streamline look
A wide herringbone chain collar necklace,
a twisted bangle bracelet and loop design hoop earrings
A few more accessories to embellish this simple outfit:
a beaded coral, peach, fuchsia and wine hairband
and dark taupe leather sash belt
Another way to achieve a monochrome look
is with a one-and-done solid color dress
Is that cheating?
One more easy way to get this look
is to go with all white or all black
Almost everyone already has a variety of pieces
to mix and match in these two non-colors
worth experimenting with
Here is an all white outfit from summer, 2021
I am looking forward to unpacking and starting to wear
my summer whites- how about you?
Or if you shy away from white,
black is very chic for spring and summer, too
Continuing with my spring purge,
here is another item
It fits right in with the monochrome them
of this post
A grey on grey reptile print pleated peplum top
This top dates all the way back to 2016!
I have worn it off and on,
as reptile prints and peplums have rotated
to the forefront of the trend cycle
I take very good care of my clothes,
and this is one of the few items that just wore out
The black trim around the neck is faux leather,
and it recently started peeling and disintegrating
I have gotten a good bit of wear from this top, though
It turned out to be a valuable lesson
about buying clothing items, bags, shoes
and other accessories made of faux or vegan leather
I have several fashion bags,
from different price points that are
sadly suffering the same fate
Planned obsolescence, I guess 🙁
Here is a previous wear of the top from 2017,
well before it's trim started to crumbled
Hope you all had a nice Easter,
and enjoy the week to come!

I hear you on the faux leather! If it's an item I know I will have a while (classic belt, shoes, bag, etc) I always go for real leather. Love the coral on you! I don't think I've ever done a monochromatic coral look, but it's fabulous for spring!
I have a whole little group of clothing in a more muted shade of "sandstone coral" that I love to mix and match with different textures and varying colors that go well together. I think the tonal monochromatic look is timeless and can be quite sophisticated. The richer coral tones of your outfit are quite lovely, and of course the all-white look is a home run for summer. Your peplum blouse was really cute - I loved it with the wide leg crops - but yeah, faux leather will eventually crumble on you. Planned obsolescence is exactly right! Wow I really can't spell that word :D
I have had a few thrifted faux leather things that have surprised with how long they have lasted but real leather definitely is a better investment. I love this monochromatic colorful outfit.
