Back to the 90's-Retro Drop Waist Jumper

Hello and welcome, thanks for visiting my blog!

I decided to go retro today,
in this 90s weskit bodice white dress
I have had this dress for a long time,
and have styled it on the blog before

It is so well made and well fitted-
a testament to how clothes used to be made,
even in the 90's and aughts!
The brand, Boston Proper, is still in business,
but it's heyday was during the 90s and aughts
It is a bit like Chico's today
This dress is made of linen and cotton-
all natural fibers down to the big brown wooden buttons!
The partial belt at the drop waist,
and the little sawtooth pockets at the hip
are such cute details
Y2K styles have been a big fashion influence
for the past few seasons
This trend has lasted longer than I thought it would
Possibly because of the turn toward sustainability,
and the public purchasing
these better constructed items second hand

Have you bought or thrifted any items from this era recently?

I am wearing a pink and white striped v-neck blouse
with a tie that fits perfectly in the neckline of the dress

Roger is joining me today
in a pink polo shirt and khaki trousers
We look so innocent in candy pink!

For a bag, I choose this pink patent leather 60s clutch,
because it is such a perfect match with the blouse

In my hair is a small rectangular scarf
with a lovely feather print
You can't see it very well in my hair,
but when worn as a neck scarf,
it shows a pink feather on one side of the tie
and a violet feather on the other

I forgot to take a separate picture of the sandals
These are so darling, they are a pearlescent nude color
with a low block heel
I don't think these will be staying in my closet long,
cute as they are, because they are a bit too wide
and my foot slides around making me feel like I am going to fall off of them and twist an ankle!

Here is another time I have worn this dress on the blog,
back in the summer of 2021, in a similar way
I regret consigning those royal blue wedge sandals,
but once in a while it happens!

Hope you all have a good week
and are having a great start to your summer!

Periwinkle Blue knit dress

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Periwinkle blue is a lovely spring and summer color,
and this solid colored knit dress
is the perfect blank canvas for some fun accessorizing
I love this type of dress for its versatility
The one a am wearing today
has three quarter sleeves and a jewel neckline,
with a fitted bodice and flared skirt-right up my street!
It has so many possibilities to change it up
for different looks

Are you a fan of this type of blank canvas dress
as a base to play with accessories?

Today, I decided to do something a little different
and wear a large colorful scarf wrapped around my waist
I have seen this done recently, plucked from a 70's trend
A little unusual, and a great one if you are a scarf wearer

The accessories really make the outfit special!

Here is the fantastic teal, aqua and violet print
vintage scarf from the 1960's

For jewelry with this outfit, I chose a necklace
of all around aqua fossil disks in aqua
Also, large gold tone geometric motif earrings,
 with a chunky dome bracelet

I went neutral with the bag and shoes
This bag is a reptile embossed small satchel,
in taupe with top handles and horse bit detail

Suede sling backss with a wooden block heel,
in a similar color to the bag to finish the outfit

There are not a lot of colorful flowers
blooming in our garden just now, except the petunias,
They are very strong summer flowers that bloom from late spring to early fall if they are happy in their baskets or pots,
or planted in a partly shady areas in our climate

Hope everyone has a great week!

Spring and Summer Special Occassions

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Spring and summer are full of special occasions-
do you have any fun events to dress up for
coming up on your calendar?

Separates are a good way to go,
especially if you will be going to events
 like weddings and graduations,
where you will probably be seeing some of the same people

As much as I love a memorable dress,
I don't want to show up in the same one too often

For a spring or summer special occasion,
you don't have to break the bank and buy a whole new outfit,
(unless you want to, of course)!

With a little rummage through my closet,
I came up with a dressy look
by mixing three separates that I have not worn together before,
but mix quite nicely!

The cropped white jacket is collarless
and has a weskit style hem and open front
I usually wear this jacket in the spring and summer,
layered over a dress to give the dress a little more polish,
and also to ward off the chill when going in and out
 of air-conditioned spaces

Today I am wearing the blazer over a natural
cotton color crochet and sequin top
 Although sparkly,
I have always chosen to wear this top in the past
dressed down with more casual pieces, usually a skirt,
because I thought the top had an earthy, natural look
I usually don't think of these white tailored trousers
as part of a dressy look, either,
but they give this outfit a bit of a dressy tuxedo vibe
in this mix

Pretty details!

The extras helped to dress this outfit up even more
Carrying my two-tone pink heart shaped handle bag
The most perfect accessory for a wedding, don't you think?

For jewelry I choose a 1950's vintage bracelet,
with a double row of pink beads,
a collar necklace entirely encircled in tiny faux pearls,
and a pair of silver tone hoop earrings with pearl detail

Around my neck is a scarf,
with the softest abstract design in rose and pink
I am also wearing a pink top knot headband
This is a lot of accessories for me!

Finally, I chose these natural tan sling backs
with ivory trim, a cute side bow and low heels

It must be love! 💞

Hope you have some lovely
spring and summer events to attend
and are ready with just the right outfit

 Have a great week!
