I can't believe I am writing these words in November,
and still wearing light layers
like the cardigan I am wearing today
Long live the humble cardigan!
Happily, all types of sweaters and knitwear
are right on trend this season,
which is perfect for the warmer weather
most of us have been having
I am grateful the transition to fall
has been long and lovely, weather-wise
October flew by in the blink of an eye,
and the holiday season is quickly approaching!
Are you ready for the whirlwind
of the winter holidays that are about to begin?
Are you chill, organized and
starting to map out your plans?
I am decidedly behind!
Today I shopped my closet for this outfit
All of the pieces have been in my wardrobe
for quite some time
With just a few key accessories, I gave this classic look
a cheerful and fun twist, perfect for the season,
with the pink and orange theme
I have become so fond of lately

Wearing a pink cardigan
with an orange grosgrain button placket and buttons,
with gray full length bootcut trousers
I layered a gray top under the sweater
that matches the pants,
since light layering is key right now
to outsmart the weather!
This outfit was easy to create,
because the two tone sweater already got me started
with a color plan
Carrying an orange quilted,
tweed fabric bag with chain strap handles
For jewelry, I chose a pair
of textured silver tone hoop earrings and two vintage pieces
A 1950s hinged clamper bracelet, and an adorable
1940s plastic hand painted Scotty dog pin
Accessorizing with a pink and orange striped fabric belt,
and a skinny tie in my hair,
of different shades of orange
Do you remember when these D-ring
belts were all the rage?
I used to have quite a few of these fabric belts,
but edited them out of my closet over the years
I also converted two plaid ones into hair bands
Now, I wish I hadn't,
but I'm glad I kept this colorful one in tact,
It's perfect for this outfit!
Do you ever look back at your previous photos
and pine for items you edited out of your closet?
Back 15 or so years ago I would have never thought fashion would have gone in this direction, and those things
from the aughts and the 2010s
would not only be back in style, but be very much sought after
The higher quality fabrics and better durability
than what's being turned out today
is driving a lot of women to purchase
these items back on the second hand market
Anyway, wearing grey suede block heel pumps
with cross straps to finish the look
I would probably choose a lower heel shoe for this casual outfit,
but these are the perfect color match for the pants,
and the heel height is just right for them
I may shorten the pants to
accommodate a lower heel shoe
From the archives, here is another wear
of this lightweight cardigan,
from summer 2022, with a tank top under it,
worn with a lively multi color circle print skirt
A versatile cardigan for all seasons!
