Pastels

Hello, welcome,
and thanks for stopping by my blog!

I am focusing my post today on pastels,
since spring and summer
are truly the seasons for these
soft and light colors to shine!
There are so many beautiful pastels
to chose from, this year especially,
since many of the designers are featuring them
Pantone has chosen some lovely ones,
although Peach Fuzz being named
as the Color of the Year
took me a little by surprise
It does not seem to have really taken hold
in the fashion clothing world,
it has made more of a splash in home decor

What are your thoughts on the color, Peach Fuzz?
I have been seeing a lot of great pieces
in the other Pantone pastels this season
and am really liking Chambray blue, Dessert Lilac, Lemon Drop, and my favorite this season-Carpi!

For my first outfit, I am wearing
a flutter sleeve blouse in lilac
and a skirt with quite a pastel mix!
The skirt is made of crepe,
and has the look of the slip skirts and dresses
that are so on trend now, but it is years old
This skirt stays in my wardrobe
because it is a classic A-line cut,
 the great overlapping circle print
and the whimsical fun factor,
plus, all those pastels to pull an outfit
together with!

Roger is joining me today, wearing an aqua shirt
to match with one of the colors in my skirt
He looks great in cool pastels and cool mid tone colors
He has not had his colors done, but I strongly suspect he   would be diagnosed as a summer!

For accessories I chose an aqua print scarf
in my hair, mint color flower shaped earrings,
and a 50's vintage pale aqua graduated plastic bead bracelet

Nude kitten heel pumps
with cute bow and cutout details
to finish this confectionary outfit

Mother Nature provides some truly beautiful
pink, purple and lilac inspiration in the garden

Hope you all have a great week!

Two Color florals

Hello, welcome! And thanks for stopping by!

This week I chose two unusual floral print dresses
to style on the blog
I have noticed a lot of two-color combinations
being used in different prints, especially florals and stripes,
so I thought I would give this trend a whirl
I chose two dresses that are florals in two colors,
but are very different otherwise
Have you noticed the two-color trend this spring?

The colors of my first dress are Kelly green and white,
in a large, bright and abstract pattern
The fabric is a cool linen blend
and the dress has a collarless split V neckline,
cuffed short sleeves, and an attached sash belt
It is very loose and flowy, so the sash adds some shape
The dress is very comfortable to wear,
and I think it will be great in the summer heat!

Because the print is extra large,
I chose bold jewelry pieces to complement it
A chunky, dome hinged bangle bracelet,
and a wide collar necklace in soft gold tone,
with a pair of bright white enamel 3-D
flower petal earrings

Wearing my Washington, DC
mall map rectangular scarf in blue, green,
and white in my hair

This scarf is vintage, from the 70's
and shows the historical sites in a cute and cartoonish way
It is so beloved by me
because Washington DC is my home city-without-a-state

Carrying a simple white clutch
 with multiple rounded edge flaps

For shoes, I picked shiny white fisherman style
 T-straps with kitten heels

My second dress this week is a black and white two-color
(or lack of color) print
I don't wear it very often anymore,
because it has thin spaghetti straps, so requires a strapless bra,
(always a nuisance!)
Since black and white is a popular color combination
for this spring and summer season,
I thought I'd try for a fresh styling of the dress
It has a black beaded neckline
over a cutout, and the fabric is printed
with the most magical exotic, gigantic blooms
The pattern reminds me of Victorian wallpaper
It is a light cotton batiste,
with a white on white tonal diagonal strip
I guess it could be considered two tone
on top of two color!
I added a black mesh bolero top,
and although the dress has a fitted bodice,
I added my own black bow belt for interest

For accessories I decided to stick with the black and white plan,
even though it's unusual for me-
I'm always tempted to add a pop of color!
I chose my beloved playful, Basset Hounds bag

For jewelry, I added a curved, open circle collar necklace
and classic double drop faux pearl earrings

Here's the Black satin and chain belt
which I tied into a big bow at the waist of the dress

Lastly, I chose black d'Orsay pumps to finish the outfit

Nature provides some great two tone inspiration!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Pantone's Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

I guess everyone knows that Peach Fuzz
is the Pantone color of the year
I don't think it has really taken off
as a favorite for fashion clothing,
although I do see it crop up now and then
in the shops and on blogs and Instagram
There are some similar peachy shades out there, too
How about you feel about wearing this color,
 have you embraced it?

I recently purchased a high neck tank top in Peach Fuzz
A small purchase to see how I like it,
and to see how it might fit into my wardrobe

So this week, I am styling the tank top two ways
with items already in my wardrobe,
that have some peach in the prints
By chance, both outfits turned out mostly white and high key,
which is perfect for summer

For my first outfit, I layered the peach tank top
  under a white denim jacket,
and paired it with a lively multicolored
circle print A-line skirt with peach in the print

Carrying one of my go-to summer bags-
a cute round wicker top handle with sea shell embellishment

I thought some casual, summery silver tone jewelry
would fit right in with this outfit, so I chose a
distressed wide, open cuff bracelet,
 vintage double chain necklace
and hoop earrings with pearl detail

White lace wedge sneakers to finish this casual look

Another outfit try with the same Peach Fuzz tank top
This time I wore it under a lightweight  jacket
with vertical stripes of peach, pink and white,
and white denim jeans

I love this little bag in two shades of pink
It is from Lauren Conrad,
and comes with a detachable cross body strap
Since I purchased this one several years ago,
the company has made the bag in several new colors
Since hearts are one of my favorite motifs
I am tempted to buy each new one that comes out,
 and have a whole
rainbow or them to choose from!
Jewelry for a summers day:
Two tone gold and silver butterfly necklace,
two-tone three bar bracelet,
and gold tone chain link earrings

Jewelry for a summer's day:
Two-tone gold and silver butterfly necklace,
two-tone three bar slider bracelet,
and gold tone chain link earrings

Pinkish nude perforated oxfords
to complete the outfit

A little peachy decor inside the house-
mini fancy carnations

Hope everyone has a great week!

Memorial Day

Hello, and thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

Today I am wearing red, white and blue,
which is the perfect color combination
for the holiday that is just around the corner!

For those in other countries who may not know,
Memorial Day is a national US holiday to honor
the military men and women
who lost their lives in service to this country
We celebrate the lives of these brave men and women 🌟
Memorial Day is also considered the unofficial
 beginning of the summer season,
with the return of warmer weather
and a long holiday weekend to enjoy it
The warm weather is much anticipated,
since this spring has been atypically
cool, wet and and barely there!

This upcoming weekend is a traditional time for
 picnics, barbecues, and boating
here on the coast of Maryland
Do you have any plans for this special weekend?

One of my holiday outfits
is going to be this red and white striped polo dress
It is a casual knit with a crisp white cotton collar and split neck
I added my own wide, red woven belt
to give the dress some shape,
and added a navy blue and white polka dot scarf in my hair

All the red-no surprise here!

Carrying my red drawstring pouch bag-
it seems just right for a fun, casual outfit

For jewelry I picked out some chunky gold tone pieces
An asymmetrical hinged cuff bracelet, my initial necklace,
and square-round hoop earrings

White lace sneakers to finish the look

Roger is taking the red, white and blue cue
with a brightly colored striped polo of his own!

More stripes and patriotic colors
in a previous Memorial weekend outfit from 2019
Platform wedges are back this year for spring and summer
I have been fishing around for the ones I am wearing here,
but unfortunately I am pretty sure I consigned them
during a closet clean out a couple of years ago
 I wrongly thought this style
would not be coming back around for a long time
Silly me! I am holding on to more of my things,
for a longer period of time now
as the trend cycles continue to become shorter and shorter

Red, white and blue logo from a
vintage cherry red Ford Mustang

I am taking a short blogging break,
and will be back on Monday, June 3rd
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and week to follow!

Spring Denim

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

For this post, I chose two outfits
with denim for the spring weather transition
(it's been a slow, wet one here)
Denim is one of those miraculous fabrics that is so versatile,
it can be adapted to all types of clothing
 and worn in any season
It is manufactured in an amazing variety
 of weights, washes and colors
Denim is a good choice for so many occasions, as well
Did you see Da'Vine Joy Randolph's
incredible gown designed by Zac Posen for Levi's
at the Met Gala?
I like to always have some updated pieces in my wardrobe
How about you-are you a denim girl?

For my first outfit this week, I am wearing
a light wash denim midi skirt
with an A line shape, two deep on seam side pockets
and an attached waist sash
I tied the sash in a big bow for this wear
I do wish the sash was detachable,
and not sewn into the side seams, thou
This would have made the skirt more versatile
Worn with a ribbed knit faux wrap variegated heather knit top
in mostly a dusty pink color

For jewelry, I picked out a very special vintage necklace
to add interest to the outfit,
and fill in the wide V neckline of this top
The necklace is of stylized fishes,
with faux gemstone eyes,
and has a burnished texture finish
My jewelry is minimal, a yellow and rose gold tone wrap bracelet, and large hoop earrings

Carrying a cognac adjustable strap bag
that has the look of a mini grocery sack,

and wearing my favorite western look booties
with studded curved tops,
because they always look right with denim!

Another outfit with denim,
this one with classic straight leg, medium dark wash jeans
The floral print peplum blouse
has some "Peach Fuzz" in the floral print
along with another shade of orange, brown and a little blue
This style of floral and the colors in it always make me think 1970's

For jewelry, a gold tone hinged collar necklace,
triangular blue stone bracelet and drop open circle earrings
to go with the general boho look or the outfit

Carrying the same bag as in the first outfit

For shoes, cognac woven suede block heel slides

I will be packing most of my darker wash denim
including these jeans,
and my darker shoes and bags this weekend
to be brought back out in the fall

Denim from the past-
this is one of the items I was wearing in the spring of 2017!
Do you remember that major off-the-shoulder moment?
It was revived in 2016 and was a big trend for several years
I only partook in this trend with a couple of pieces,
and this lightweight, light wash jumpsuit was one of them
I tried it, it had mass appeal for day time and casual wear,
which I thought was a little unusual
The jumpsuit just did not feel like me,
and was consigned after a hand full of wears
Not one of my best CPW outfits!

Hope you all have a good week!
